In tonight’s The Voice episode it was Part Four of the Blind Auditions! The judges were still filling up their teams. The first one up tonight was Kate Cosentino. Kate was from Kansas City and she now lives in Nashville. Only she wasn’t a country musician. She likes to perform Pop songs. She was from a big Italian family. She grew up singing classic songs like “Its Amore” and that inspired her to seek out a career in music. She also was rocking an usual attire that she called “clown couture”. She was clearly someone that likes to take risks.
Kate even did that with her song selection. She chose the song “I Say A Little Prayer”. She did her own rendition of the song and she also played guitar for her performance and so she quickly drew interest. Kelly was the first to turn for her. But Niall and Chance were on hot on her heels. The only one who didn’t turn was Blake. Not that Blake let that stop him from participating with helping Kate pick a judge. She did after all had to choose between three great ones. And she said she chose the judge her ancestors would want her to pick.
Kate chose Niall. She said the Italians and the Irish have always had each other’s back. Niall was just so glad to add her to his team that he sang her praises. He said all of America would fall in love with her. Except not everyone got their dream turn tonight. There was Al Boogie. He was from Louisiana. He was a little older than most of the contestants. He was thirty-seven. He was a married father of four and he had been hoping this show would give him a platform only he was one of the people that got a rejection tonight.
Al performed “T-R-O-U-B-L-E”. He actually was a country musician and he’s been performing the last several years with a band. The problem he had tonight was that the judges hadn’t heard enough of his original voice to fully grasp his potential. Al was a great singer, but how much was the song and how much was him? The judges hadn’t known the answer to that and sadly none turned around for Al. Even if they did love his name. He does have a great name and he can always come back next season with a different song.
The next contestant was Chloe Abbot. She was from Detroit. She was a track and field athlete. She runs the 400 race. She was hoping to run in the 2024 Olympics and so she didn’t really have the time to seek a singing career. Only singing was important to her. She’s been signing since she was a little girl. She wanted to one day make a name for herself as both an athlete as well as a singer. Chloe came to the studio with her parents. They were waiting on the side as she performed her own rendition of “How Deep Is Your Love”.
Chloe showed off incredible control. Chance turned around for her because he said she has a classic voice. He compared her to some of the greats and he couldn’t wait to work with her. Chance was the only person who turned for Chloe. Not that it mattered. She was still so happy. She was glad to join the team of someone who appreciates her. Which went the same for some of the contestants tonight. Marcos Convos performed next. He was from Dallas. He actually grew up singing. He remembered as a kid that his relatives used to give him money to perform.
Marcos had a great childhood. Then he came out as gay during his senior year in high school. His family all turned their backs on him and it was painful to sing afterwards because it would remind him of his time with his family. His mother eventually put her foot down. She came to accept Marcos and she demanded the same of everyone else. Which helped Marcos to return to singing. He was a gifted singer. He performed a beautiful song in Spanish. It naturally drew Kelly in because she loves Spanish singers and so Kelly quickly turned around.
It had looked like she was getting him as they were moving towards the end of his performance, but that’s when Blake also turned. Blake surprised everyone with his turn. Kelly thought he did it to annoy her and so she went extra hard in convincing Marcos to choose her. She even showed off the jacket for members of her team. Only Marcos was a fan of Blake’s. He had looked like he was going to choose him when suddenly he decided to go with Kelly. And so that was payback for Blake waiting too long to pick him.
Next up was Tianna Gloss. She was from LA. She actually performed last season on the show and she didn’t get any chair turns. She had let her nerves get the best of her. She’s been working on that since then. She now believes she’s ready for the show. She performed the song “Emotions” and she quickly won over the judge she wanted to impress the most. She won Niall. Her sister was a huge fan of his. Niall also doesn’t have anyone like her on his team and he couldn’t wait to work with her. Although her medical condition might be tricky.
Tianna was diagnosed with epilepsy back in 2020. She sometimes forget words because of that condition and so it was going to be a tricky one for Niall. But the last performance of the night came from Mary Kate Connor. Mary Kate was the youngest contestant tonight. She was only seventeen. She was from Virginia. She grew up watching the show. She also had a dad that was in a gospel band at church and she used to beg him to let her perform. And now she was getting the chance to perform on a huge stage.
Mary Kate performed “Stars”. She has a sweet country twang to her voice and both Blake and Kelly wanted her, but Blake was the one who forget where she came from and kept confusing it with another place, and Mary Kate still chose him to be her coach.
THE END!
