Tonight’s The Voice episode begins with coaches Niall Horan, Chance the Rapper, Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson. It is the final night of the battle and only Blake has a steal left.
Team Niall’s Jerome Godwin III and Talia Smith will perform “Like I Can.”
Kelly thought that was so well done, she tells Jerome that he had so much control over his runs, he wasn’t attacking them, they just flowed and he stood out to her. – but Talia has the range, she will be bumped if either go. Chance says Jerome can sing anything, he feels like he could do gospel soul and Broadway – Talia he felt there were pitch issues , the song is a bit up tempo for her style. Blake says when it was time for a big moment, Talia felt more comfortable there but there were a lot of loose ends, because of that he feels Jerome took this battle. Niall says it was unbelievable even with the pitch issues, but both put on a great performance, it is going to come down to who had the best composure. Jerome wins the battle.
Team Kelly’s JB Somers and Rachel Christine are next and they are preforming, “Light On.”
Niall says the nerves were strong, but the climax was beautiful, really good, incredible singers and the harmonies were phenomenal, if he was leaning one way, he would go with JB. Blake says he turned around for both of them. Chance says Rachel was a clear winner, she has such a strong voice and he thinks she can win this entire competition. Blake says the early part wasn’t on the rails, they brought it back and Rachel had this performance. Kelly says in rehearsals she thought they should form a group, she knows nerves can set in, she thinks one stood out more in the battle. The winner of the battle is Rachel.
Team Blake’s Alex Whalen could not perform, for personal reasons he left the competition, so his battle partner is singing solo, Neil Salsich.
Niall says there was a four chair turn for him for a reason but the fact they they got Hank Williams and Marvin Gaye out of him, makes him very excited. Blake says he absolutely nailed it and is moving on to the knockouts.
Team Chance’s NOIVAS and Ray Uriel perform “Jealous Guy.”
Kelly says that was pretty well done, she almost thought it was even, NOIVA’s energy is incredible and so powerful and it is infectious, it is incredible to sing with your whole body – Ray your runs are smooth and cool, they are sneaky, a cool gift, she thinks Ray shined a bit more on this song. Blake thought NOIVA’s energy was working for him, he would go with him. Niall says it was awesome to hear one of his all time favourite songs sung by two massive voices, completely different from the energy – he tells Ray his tone was cool and he liked his runs – the size of NOIVA’s voice was like a wall. Chance says this is a difficult decision for hm. He liked that they both had their own interpretations, they matched so well on stage. NOIVA has such a passion and he knows he could win this whole thing but he enjoyed the improvement in Ray. The winner of the battle is Ray.
Blake steals NOIVA and tells him that he is home now. He loves the fact that he was blocked from NOIVA in the auditions and now he has him. He has a cowboy hat and belongs on his team.
THE END!
