In tonight’s #TheVoice episode, it was the last night of the Semifinals! There were nine contestants at the start of tonight and unfortunately there was only five left standing by the end of it. Each contestant had a chance to prove themselves on Monday. They performed twice. They had solos. They even had trios with two of their fellow contestants. They were all phenomenal, but to survive fan week one must have fans turning out to vote for them and sometimes fans aren’t as diligent as they could be. There were so many opportunities to vote. None of that mattered if someone decided to miss one night because they were tired or they thought other people would vote for someone as great as their idol.

No one was really safe on this show!

The first person making it into the next round was Lila Forde. Lila had an incredible night on Monday. Her trio was Taylor Swift’s “Exile” and it was really good. She also did well to connect with her audience as she performed “River” for her solo. It was right up her alley. Her fans knew her well when they made that choice. She was perhaps the best of the night because she was able to move the coaches to tears with that performance alone. John has always believed in her and he might win with her if she continues being that amazing for the rest of their live shows.

The next contestant joining her was Huntley. Huntley was a part of that trio involving “Exile”. With two out of the three of the contestants being confirmed as “safe” for the night, you can get a real picture of how great that trio was. Everyone expected Mac to be named as the third person because he was the only one left from that trio. Except he wasn’t the third person named as safe. That distinction went to Ruby Leigh. Ruby’s famous yodel sometimes sounded pitchy on Monday. And that might have been held against her, just not enough to put her in danger it seems.

Ruby performed “Take Me Home, Country Roads” for her solo. Where the now infamous pitchy could be heard. She also performed Taylor Swift’s “Mean” with her trio. The trio sounded better than the solo. Which couldn’t be said for Huntley. Huntley’s solo was “Way Down We Go”. It touched on his rocker roots. He got to be free and powerful and that’s the best version of Huntley there is. It wasn’t surprising at all that Huntley got through to the next round. Tonight also wasn’t just a rehash of everything that happened the night before.

There were plenty of performances tonight from the coaches. Niall and John performed a duet of “The Show”. It was one of Niall’s songs from his album of the same name as the song. It sounded really beautiful as a duet. It was quite memorable. John also performed “What Christmas Means to Me”. He was getting everyone ready for Christmas with that song. But this was a competition. Let’s get back it. The last traditional contestant going into the next round was revealed to be Mara Justine. Her solo was great. Her trio was so much better.

Her trio of Taylor Swift’s “Don’t Blame Me” was right up there with the original. It was actually shocking that so many great performers were in danger tonight. The rest had to fight it out in the Instant Save. Nini Iris was up first for this new round. She performed “Mad World”. It was very clear that she was giving this song her all. Niall practically begged for America to vote for her. All the coaches begged for someone tonight. Gwen was out of the competition if Bias didn’t go through. Bias performed “Go Rest High on That Mountain”. He showed off a much softer side to his tone with that performance.

Take Jacquie Roar. She shouldn’t be in danger at all. She was more than good. She was professional. She was perfection with every note and her performance tonight of “Alone” blew everyone away. The whole world was singing along with her. Which couldn’t be said of anyone else. Jordan Rainer went up after she did and her performance of “I Don’t Dance” was good. It just didn’t blow people away. Not to take anything away from Jordan. She was a great singer with amazing stage presence. She will definitely be going on tour with Reba after all of this.

The final performance from the Instant Save round went to Mac Royals. He performed “I Wanna Know”. He gave his own concert on Monday and none of the others had anything on him. He was the only one performing R&B. His voice was like smooth butter. There were so many contestants and they all deserved to be in the Finals. Yet, there was only room for one out of the five. The final person going into the next round was revealed to be Jacquie Roar!

THE END!
