The Young and the Restless Recap: Friday, April 28 – Daniel Fears Summer’s Psychotic Break, Doesn’t Buy Phyllis Story

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, April 28, teases that Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) will show up at the Abbott house and confirm that Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) offer to move in was legit – just as long as Tucker behaves himself.

After Ashley helps Tucker get settled in, she’ll talk to him about the sale of McCall Unlimited and how he’ll need to find a new identity now.

Tucker will want to spend his time rebuilding his relationship with Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), getting to know Dominic Newman-Abbott-Winters-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware) and seducing Ashley, so she’ll approve of those plans.

At Jabot, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will tell Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) about his offer to marry Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) ASAP, but Billy will worry that Jack’s running from his grief over Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).

Jack will insist he’s not in denial and will act like his future with Diane is a totally separate thing.

However, Jack will take a walk down memory lane while Billy’s on a phone call, so he’ll remember some highs and lows in his love story with Phyllis.

When Billy returns, Jack will admit his brother was right about him needing to look back before he looked forward.

It’ll take time for Jack to find closure after things with Phyllis ended in so much pain and resentment.

Nevertheless, Jack will point out that Billy is wrong on one front.

When it comes to Diane, Jack will be more determined than ever to marry her – not as a diversion, but as a reminder that life is fragile and precious.

After Jack insists he can’t lose Diane, he’ll head home and find Tucker on the sofa with Ashley, who’ll admit she invited him to move in.

Jack will look furious, but he’ll ultimately just stomp off over the news.

At the jazz lounge, Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) and Michael Baldwin’s (Christian LeBlanc) attempt at a semi-normal night out will end with a heated argument.

Lauren just won’t understand how Michael could take Diane’s case since she’ll fully believe Diane killed Phyllis, who was their best friend.

Michael will argue that he’s seen enough liars to know when someone isn’t being honest with him.

Although Michael will believe Diane was set up by Jeremy Stark (James Hyde), he’ll surprise Lauren with updates on Stark’s death.

Lauren won’t share Michael’s belief in Diane’s version of events, so he’ll get agitated and wonder why she can’t just have faith in him.

Once Lauren acknowledges that she does have faith in Michael, she’ll warn that she’ll never see Diane as innocent.

Even if there’s no blood on her hands, Diane made Phyllis miserable the last months of her life, so Lauren will remain fed up with her.

After Lauren ultimately decides it was a mistake to come there with Michael, she’ll walk out on him and leave him looking frustrated.

In the park on Friday’s Y&R episode, Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) will call out to Phyllis after hearing a noise, so she’ll wonder if Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) saw her too when he appears.

Daniel will assume Summer’s mind is playing tricks on her like it’s been doing for him.

That’ll lead to Daniel talking about how he dreams of Phyllis and has moments when he thinks he sees her.

Summer will insist this was real and will suggest she can answer the questions they’ve been facing.

Daniel will seem confused as Summer talks about how everything they thought they knew is a lie.

After Summer insists Phyllis isn’t dead, she’ll know it sounds crazy. S

ummer will push Daniel to consider the idea that Phyllis survived and that this was all a big scheme orchestrated by Jeremy.

Daniel will respond with skepticism, but Summer will argue that Stark played on Phyllis’ emotions and forced her to be part of his revenge plot on Diane.

Summer will suggest Phyllis hasn’t come back to them because she’s the one who killed Jeremy – though she’ll hint that it happened accidentally when he came after her.

Daniel will question why Phyllis wouldn’t just explain that it was self-defense, but Summer will act like no one would believe their mom’s side of the story.

Once Summer realizes Daniel thinks she’s out of her mind, he’ll point out that it’s a pretty wild string of theories.

That said, Daniel will get why Summer would be desperate for a sign that Phyllis is still out there somewhere.

“She is! I saw her!” Summer will shout.

Daniel will warn that it’s not healthy to obsess over things that aren’t real, so Summer will wish there was a way to prove this to him.

After Summer calls out for their mom repeatedly, she’ll cry as Daniel pulls her into a hug.

Summer will promise that she hasn’t had a psychotic break with reality and will ask what she has to do to prove this to Daniel.

Although Daniel will want to believe Summer, he’ll insist they’re not going to see their mom again and will try to get Summer to accept that Phyllis is gone.

Summer will argue that she’s telling the truth, but Daniel will suggest that if they take this story to the GCPD, they’ll react with disbelief or hit a brick wall if they investigate.

If by some miracle they did find Phyllis, Daniel will note that she’d be locked up in jail while Diane walked free.

Summer will realize Daniel’s saying there’s nothing they can do, but he’ll promise that they’ll get through this together since that’s what Phyllis would want.

After Summer thinks back to Phyllis hugging her and vowing to love her no matter what she decides, she’ll tell Daniel that she’s going to miss her so much.

Daniel will eventually lead Summer home as she keeps looking back to the spot where Phyllis revealed herself.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Phyllis will do her best to figure out a new way out of this mess, so stay tuned.
