The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, October 20, reveals that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will quiz Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) about how Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) doing in the assistant position and seem almost disappointed over him doing well.
Victor will hint about Adam falling in line too easily before Nate brings up Adam and Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) concerns about his mental health.
When Victor asks Nate what he thinks, Nate will point out that he used to be Victor’s doctor and trusts that he’d get medical help if he needed it.
Afterward, Nate will run into Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and admit he saw no sign of any odd behavior from Victor. Nikki will suggest that maybe her children are mistaken before confronting Victor alone in his office.
Once Nikki accuses Victor of switching between lucidity and confusion on purpose, he’ll admit he’s not losing his mind. Victor will talk about the upsetting patterns he’s seen in his children, but Nikki will think this plot is too cruel.
Victor won’t think it’s any worse than one of his children betraying him, but Nikki will stomp off since she’ll need time to think about all this.
At the Chancellor mansion, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Devon Hamilton-Winters (Bryton James) will talk to Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) on a video chat. Jill will admit she came up empty when she tried to dig for more info on Mamie Johnson’s (Veronica Redd) motives.
However, Jill will warn Devon and Lily not to underestimate Mamie. If Jill could figure out why Mamie is reigniting their rivalry now, she’ll feel like she could learn exactly what they’re dealing with.
Later, Jill will make a video call to Victor and demand details on the deal he struck with Mamie. Victor will insist everything was above board, but Jill will doubt that he’d tell her if that wasn’t the case.
In Mamie’s suite, she’ll warn Tucker that this isn’t wise when he shows up for a meeting. Tucker will want to discuss Mamie’s recent interaction with Nate and will remind Mamie that Nate was a traitor.
Mamie will argue that they agreed to stay out of each other’s way, but Tucker will contend that he wants Devon and Lily to have total autonomy.
Nate’s inclusion could destroy their success according to Tucker, but Mamie will insist it’s non-negotiable since he’s family.
Since it’s a long shot that Mamie can even lure Nate away from Newman Enterprises, Tucker will relent for now. There’ll also be talk about targeting Jill since that’s a mutual goal.
Jill will seem irritated over Tucker not making any progress on taking care of Jill yet, but he’ll promise it’ll happen and leave to deal with other priorities.
When Tucker texts Devon to invite him to lunch, Devon will try to tell him that his day is full. Tucker will call and beg to get a cup of coffee together, so Devon will agree as long as they have a real conversation.
At the GCAC on Friday’s Y&R episode, Devon will admit to Tucker that it’s hard to let his guard down knowing he could get played.
Tucker will want to fix the distance between them, but Devon will call him out on not taking enough responsibility for his breakup and threatening the Abbotts as well.
After Tucker acts like he was just blowing off steam with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), he’ll insist he’s not going after Jabot.
Devon won’t know how he’s supposed to believe Tucker, but Tucker will ask if fixing this rift is possible.
Although Devon will confess that it is, he’ll also suggest that’s contingent on Tucker’s honesty about not plotting revenge on the Abbotts and having no Mamie connection.
It’ll be tough for Devon to believe Tucker isn’t linked to Mamie after the look he saw between them. Tucker keeps doing stupid stuff to threaten his relationship with Devon, so Devon will call him out on that.
Since Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) will return to town eventually, Devon will point out that could get messy.
Tucker will maintain that he just wanted Ashley to make him a priority and will suggest that he’d want to make amends if she walked through the door.
After Tucker asks if Devon would give up his dreams for Abby Newman-Abbott (Melissa Ordway), Devon will insist he’d do anything for the woman he loves.
Tucker will decide he’s got some thinking to do and will ultimately head up to his suite, where he’ll text Ashley to ask if there’s a way back from this. When Ashley texts back “no,” Tucker will shatter his drinking glass in a fit of rage.
At Crimson Lights, Lily will admit to Mamie that she believes her good intentions, but she’ll also think Mamie wanted to shake Jill to the core.
When the conversation shifts to Nate and Mamie’s desire for him to be part of Chancellor-Winters, she’ll wonder what it’s going to take to get him another chance.
Back at the athletic club, Nate will bump into Devon, who’ll suggest maybe they could work together to make Mamie feel welcome.
The tension will thaw a bit, but Nate will want to be transparent and will admit Mamie’s intent on bringing him back to Chancellor-Winters.
Nate will note that he’s not the one driving this notion since he’s happy at Newman Enterprises. Devon will suggest it’s up to Nate to dissuade Mamie and will head out the door.
In Victor’s office, Nikki will warn about the mayhem that could result if Victor’s kids figure out his trap.
Victor will think the end justifies the means and will feel confident that once the traitor is exposed, the others will understand.
Nikki will worry since Nate is already suspicious and knows what Victor’s capable of since he helped fake his demise. Nate could share his suspicions with Victoria, but Victor will insist that one of his kids will make a move very soon.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Victor’s plan will come with some curveballs, so stay tuned for updates on the troubling news ahead.
