The Young and the Restless Recap: Thursday, August 17 – Victor Cancels Sally’s Design Division – Adam’s Shocking Attitude

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 17, reveal that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will fill Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) in on the blackmail news and point out that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) still won’t fire Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).

That’ll frustrate Nick, who’ll rant about Adam undermining the merger and putting Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) in an awkward position, too.

However, Sharon will insist this is nothing new since Adam is just being Adam.

Instead of letting Adam get under his skin, Sharon will urge Nick to concentrate on the things he can actually control.

Nick will mention that he wants to change Adustus’ name, so he’ll suggest SNA Media – short for Sharon, Nick, Adam.

Sharon will love it, but Nick will joke that maybe Adam will hate it and quit.

At Society, Sally will run into Adam and mention that she’s meeting Victor Newman at the ranch soon to accept his offer to run Newman Enterprises’ new design division.

Before she goes, Sally will want to know what Adam wanted to talk to her about last night before Nick interrupted.

Adam will admit he wanted to offer Sally a job since she’s the only one who knows Newman Media as well as him, but now he won’t know if the Newman Media and Adustus merger will ever happen.

Since Adam is on thin ice with Victor, he won’t be sure of how long he’ll be able to keep his own job anyway.

Sally will admit she was worried Adam wanted to ask for another chance romantically, so Adam will ask if she’s disappointed.

After Sally suggests they shouldn’t go there, she’ll give Adam some tough love and urge him to stop acting like he’s five years old.

Sally will think Adam needs to stop chasing the rush of creating chaos.

As for the possibility of working with Adam again, Sally will shut it down since Adam can’t separate his personal feelings.

Nevertheless, the conversation will end on a positive note as Sally says they’ve gotten through the worst of losing Ava Spectra.

Sally will also talk about getting past the anger she felt toward Adam, so he’ll appreciate her saying that.

Afterward, Adam will join Sharon and Nick at Crimson Lights, where they’ll get his approval on the office space they bought and the new SNA Media name.

Nick and Sharon will be surprised over Adam being so agreeable, but he’ll act like he doesn’t want to cause any more trouble since this venture is all he has left.

At the ranch on Thursday’s Y&R episode, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will want to smooth things over with Victor since he kept secrets regarding Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) and the tight spot she was in.

Nate will make it clear that his priority was protecting Newman Enterprises, Victoria and even Audra since Adam’s blackmail was despicable.

Victor will thank Nate for explaining things face to face and will insist they’re good for now.

Before Victor goes, he’ll give him all the financial projection info for Adustus and ask him to look it over.

Later, Sally will show up to accept Victor’s offer, but he’ll offer some disappointing updates. Victor will admit there isn’t going to be a design division – not now, not ever.

Instead, Victor will need to devote his attention to Adustus and handling the feud between Nick and Adam.

A clearly irritated Sally will point out that she can’t go back to her gig at Chancellor-Winters since Victor found them a new design firm.

Sally will wonder if Victor dangled this opportunity in front of her just to yank it away and will question if this is punishment for getting involved with his sons.

Victor will deny that and act like tough decisions must be made in business – but he’s got a grin on his face as he says it!

At the GCAC, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will sit down with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) to once again talk about the kids’ plan to attend boarding school.

After some mild bickering, Billy will sense that something else is going on with Victoria, so she’ll offer a vague version of the story about Nate and Audra.

The fact that Nate kept secrets will bother Victoria, but she’ll also defend him a bit and point out that he wants to run Newman Enterprises alongside her.

Billy will be concerned about Nate’s level of hubris and will fear that Victoria could become collateral damage, so he’ll warn her since she’s faced enough of that already.

When Nate meets up with Victoria, he’ll sense that something has shifted between them and will want to fix it.

Victoria will acknowledge that a lie of omission is still a lie – and deception isn’t something she can just brush past.

Nate will get that he broke Victoria’s trust and will hope that he can win it back over time.

Victoria will assume Nate wants to preserve his position at the company, but he’ll make it clear that their personal relationship is extremely important to him.

Once Nate admits that he’s falling in love with Victoria, she’ll still seem uneasy and will want to get back to work.

Nate will agree to cover a meeting for Victoria before stepping outside her office and looking pensive over the setback.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Nate’s mistake could lead to more trouble if he can’t undo the damage, so stay tuned to see his next desperate move.
