The Young and the Restless Recap: Thursday, July 20 – Jack’s Secret New York Trip – Diane & Phyllis’ Fake Truce

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, July 20, reveals that Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) will be fake nice to each other before talk turns to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), who’s out on bail without an ankle monitor.

Ashley will try to get a reaction out of Diane by pointing out that Phyllis probably won’t even face real prison time.

However, Diane will insist she’s choosing to focus on her own life and will advise Ashley to do the same.

At Society, Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) will urge Phyllis to concentrate on winning Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) over to her side since that’s the quickest way to make Diane self-destruct.

Although Tucker will seem impatient, Phyllis will argue that it’d raise suspicions if she jumped right to making amends with Kyle and Jack without healing her bond with her children first.

Tucker will think engaging Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) in this might help, but Phyllis will warn that they will under no circumstances use Summer as part of the plan.

After Tucker tells Phyllis that he could invalidate the statement EMT Carson (Walter Belenky) gave, Phyllis will insist that she’s got this and will want to know about the plan to bring down Jabot.

Tucker will feel like Phyllis just needs to focus on Diane, so she’ll promise to take care of her.

Once Diane walks in, she’ll join Phyllis and Tucker at a table.

Despite Tucker’s attempt to goad the ladies into a catfight, Diane will plaster on a smile and act like she understands what it’s like to be Jeremy Stark’s (James Hyde) victim.

Diane will claim she’s willing to just move on, so Phyllis will take her hands and ask if she’s for real.

After Diane insists she’s being sincere, Tucker will get frustrated and shout at her to tell Phyllis how she actually feels.

Diane won’t take the bait, so Phyllis will put on a big show about thanking Diane for her compassion and empathy.

Once Phyllis exits, Tucker will praise Diane for her brilliant performance, but he’ll think her benevolence will backfire since Phyllis is going to get off scot-free.

At the GCAC, Christine Blair Williams (Lauralee Bell) will have a flashback of confronting Phyllis after realizing she was the one who ran her down in a car.

Next on Thursday’s Y&R episode, Christine will bump into Phyllis, so they’ll bicker about whether Christine’s going to prosecute this case fairly.

Since Christine knows how Phyllis operates, she’ll suggest that Phyllis wouldn’t have come back if she didn’t have a strong belief that she could exonerate herself.

Phyllis won’t confess anything, but Christine will think something feels off and will be determined to find out what it is.

Once Ashley gets some alarming news over the phone, she’ll summon Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and mention to him that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) snuck off to New York.

Billy will play dumb and act like there are more important things to discuss – like whether Ashley will take her patents and her former company.

Ashley will insist that many decisions are left to be made, but Billy will warn that if Ashley and Tucker make an aggressive move, then Jabot will respond in kind.

After Tucker comes home, Ashley will admit there’s trouble since she got a call from a colleague and learned Jack was in New York meeting with a board member as well as some attorneys.

According to Ashley, it’ll be obvious that Jack is trying to take legal action to counter her move to get back what’s hers.

As a result, Ashley will think they’ll need to act quickly.

Tucker will offer updates on some loopholes in the contracts and will suggest they only need to prove cause. Since Tucker has some sharp-toothed lawyers, he’ll vow to put them on it.

When Tucker tries to shift the conversation to the topic of their wedding, Ashley will insist there’s no time to focus on that right now.

Instead, Ashley will want to talk about Diane, who barely blinked when she tried to rile her up earlier.

Tucker will admit he had a front-row seat to Diane and Phyllis’ reunion showdown, which was painfully underwhelming. That said, Tucker will think it’s all smoke and mirrors.

As for Phyllis’ mission, Tucker will get why she’s choosing not to antagonize Diane since she has to get Jack and Kyle’s forgiveness.

When Tucker once again brings up their nuptials, Ashley will admit she doesn’t want to use it as a weapon anymore.

After Ashley confesses that’s falling in love with Tucker, she’ll suggest it’d bring bad karma if they trivialized the wedding.

Once Ashley insists she wants good vibes only, Tucker will be pleased over his fiancée wanting this wedding to be legit. Ashley will lean in for a kiss after Tucker says he couldn’t be happier.

Back at Society, Diane will flash back to the fierce faceoff she had with Phyllis on the night of the gala.

After Diane gets a text from Jack and smiles, she’ll look deep in thought.

When Billy arrives, he’ll tell Diane that Ashley found out about Jack’s trip to New York.

Billy didn’t give anything away and warned that they’d strike back if provoked, so Diane will approve of how he handled it.

After Diane says she’s not going to step down at Jabot, she’ll point out that she’s going to be an Abbott soon. Diane will declare that nobody is going to hurt their family company without a fight!

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Diane will do her part to help the Abbotts, but there’s much more drama ahead.

CDL will have other terrific Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news to read up on, so make us your favorite Y&R hotspot.
