The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 1, reveals that Abby Newman-Abbott (Melissa Ordway) will bicker with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) about Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) new marriage and the family feud that’s still going on.
Devon Hamilton-Winters (Bryton James) will push for a subject change, so Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) will be grateful as the four of them try to get their lunch gathering at the Chancellor mansion back on track.
In a moment alone on Tuesday’s Y&R episode, Tucker will ask Devon to be his best man at the upcoming wedding, so he’ll be thrilled when Devon gets on board.
Unfortunately, Abby and Ashley’s attempt to talk wedding details nearby won’t go nearly as well. It’ll seem like Ashley doesn’t even care, so Abby will worry this marriage is just another way to get back at Jack.
If that’s the case, Abby will want no part of it and will warn Ashley to take it somewhere else!
Devon will pick up on the chilly vibe as Ashley ultimately leaves with Tucker, so Abby will admit she thinks her instincts were wrong. It’s Ashley who’s pushing this feud, not Tucker.
Abby will fear that if Ashley pushes too far, there’ll be no coming back.
After Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) summons Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) up to his suite, she’ll have a fruit bowl and art supplies set up so he can distract himself from Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) drama.
Since Daniel won’t be inspired by that fruit bowl or the flowers Lily offers instead, she’ll try another idea.
Lily will eventually disrobe so that Daniel can make a nude drawing of her, so that’ll lead to them hitting the sheets.
At Crimson Lights, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will run into Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) and realize she needs someone to talk to.
Summer will be wary of opening up to a cop, but Chance will promise that it’ll stay between them as long as she doesn’t admit to any future crimes.
Once Summer relents, she’ll admit she doesn’t think Phyllis is being completely honest. It’ll leave Summer worried that this nightmare is only going to get worse.
Summer will also be concerned about getting charged as an accessory, but Chance will think he can convince Christine Blair Williams (Lauralee Bell) to back off.
When Summer frets over the possibility that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) might testify against her, Chance will suggest he can argue that Kyle has his own agenda and convince Christine that enough is enough.
After Chance defends Summer for trying to protect her mother, he’ll feel like anyone who doesn’t understand that instinct is flat-out heartless.
Summer will end up complaining about Kyle sleeping with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), so Chance won’t think he’s the guy who should give advice on forgiving a cheating spouse.
Once Summer realizes she’s been insensitive to Chance’s own situation and apologizes, he’ll assure her that it’s fine.
As their conversation wraps up, Chance will urge Summer to let Phyllis deal with her own life. That way, Summer can focus on her life, too.
Summer will realize she needs to set some stronger boundaries at some point and will be grateful that she was able to get all this off her chest.
When Summer seeks confirmation that this discussion was friend to friend and not friend to cop, Chance will assure her that it was indeed between friends.
At Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) new place, Phyllis will bring him a cactus as a housewarming gift and will learn that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) ultimately got on board with her employment.
Adam will want to know the real reason Phyllis is there, so she’ll admit she needs him to find something to take Tucker down.
Phyllis will call it a necessity, but she’ll push Adam to trust her instead of sharing the details.
That won’t work for Adam since he’s under a microscope and doesn’t need to be involved in shady enterprises with his newest employee.
Adam will wonder why Phyllis doesn’t just get this done on her own, so she’ll acknowledge that she needs to keep her nose clean.
That’ll leave Adam even more concerned since it’ll seem like Phyllis wants him to do her dirty work.
Phyllis will clarify that Adam won’t have to get his hands dirty and will assume he did a deep dive on Tucker when he was looking into his company.
Adam will ask how damaging the info needs to be, so Phyllis will admit she’s not looking to destroy Tucker – though she needs the means to do it.
Phyllis will offer to work free for six months and will push Adam to do her this favor. Adam will ultimately think he’s figured out the secret and will wonder if Tucker paid EMT Carson (Walter Belenky) off.
After Adam says Tucker literally has Phyllis’ freedom in his hands, she’ll point out that she can’t work for Adam if she goes to prison.
Adam will tell Phyllis that he’ll have to think about whether he’ll help her or not, so she’ll warn him not to take too long before she exits.
