The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Wednesday, April 12, teases that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) will seem concerned about Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) choosing the jazz lounge as the memorial service location.
Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will admit he feels it’s a terrible mistake and will think Summer’s trying to prove something by having them gather where they last saw Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).
Although Diane will feel like maybe she should skip the service on Wednesday’s Y&R episode, Kyle will insist that Summer wants her there.
At the jazz lounge, Summer will seem uneasy when she spots some police tape in the trash, but she’ll turn to Phyllis’ portrait and promise to make things right.
When Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) finds Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) in his suite before the memorial, she’ll announce plans to suspend work on the gaming platform.
Daniel will object since he needs something else to focus on besides his grief, so Lily will relent as long as he doesn’t work today.
Once Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) gets updates from someone over the phone, he’ll flip out over Phyllis being a no-show for her flight last night.
Meanwhile, Phyllis will return to her motel room with a bag containing her disguise, including a wig.
At Crimson Lights, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will be all set to attend the celebration of life service with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), who’ll bump into Summer and offer her condolences.
After Summer realizes Sally plans to come to the memorial, she’ll insist Phyllis wouldn’t want her there and will start ranting about Sally glomming onto Nick when she’s pregnant with Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) baby.
Summer will push Sally to stay far away from the service, so Sally will opt to make things easier for Summer by sitting this one out.
After Sally pushes Nick to go alone, she’ll be by herself at a table when Adam arrives. Sally will invite Adam to join her as long as they don’t discuss anything too serious, so they’ll chat about baby prep.
Once Sally invites Adam to come to her next doctor’s appointment and learn the baby’s gender, he’ll insist that he’d love to come. Sally will admit Nick’s going to be there as well, but Adam will remain excited about this major milestone.
After Sally feels the baby move, she’ll put Adam’s hand on her bump so that he can feel it, too. That’ll bring a sweet moment of bonding for Adam and Sally.
Back at the jazz lounge, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will show up like Summer requested and assume she was going for maximum impact on Diane with this location.
Summer will insist that once Diane sees how much the loss of Phyllis affected everyone, she won’t be able to hide her guilt.
Next, Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) will surprise Daniel by revealing that Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant) has returned for the memorial, so Daniel will gladly pull his daughter into a hug.
Afterward, Danny will ask Lily to keep an eye on Daniel for Lucy’s sake, so Lily will reassure him.
Once Jeremy checks Phyllis’ motel room and sees no sign of her, he’ll head to the memorial service.
Jack will confront Stark and wonder how much money it’ll take to make him back off this vicious plan to frame Diane. However, Jeremy will insist Diane is guilty and act like he won’t be satisfied until she’s in prison.
Chance will threaten to figure out a parole violation and arrest Jeremy unless he’s escorted out, so Jeremy will relent and go with him.
Once Jeremy hunts for Phyllis in her motel room again, he’ll wonder where she is and snap that Phyllis isn’t going to screw this up for him.
After Summer kicks off the celebration of life, Phyllis will show up wearing glasses and a wig as she poses as an employee for the event.
That’ll give Phyllis a chance to listen to Summer and all the other mourners at the service.
Summer will admit she’d give anything to have Phyllis back and will talk about how sorry she is that they fought.
Once Summer expresses regret for doubting her mom, she’ll insist she’d tell Phyllis that she loves her and believes her if she were there.
Daniel will try to say a few words, but he’ll be too choked up to do it.
Nick will speak about his love story with Phyllis instead – and Jack will follow it up with the story of Phyllis’ strength during Summer’s elevator birth.
After Jack admits Phyllis’ death has forever changed him, he’ll toast to “Red” and gaze at her portrait.
Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) and Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) will also get up to speak about how Phyllis was always there for them.
Once it’s Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) turn, she’ll discuss her love for Summer and how she had that in common with Phyllis.
Nikki will mention the special project that she collaborated with Phyllis on as well, so that’ll earn a dirty look from Diane.
Lucy will speak about Phyllis flying all the way to Portugal just to help her make amends with her dad.
As Lucy sits besides Daniel, she’ll insist Phyllis taught her to never be too proud to say sorry since love is more important.
After Chance observes Diane like Summer asked, he’ll get a text from Maggie at the GCPD.
Maggie will reveal that they know who bought the bottle of strychnine, so Chance will text back that he needs a name.
Once Maggie replies with the name “Diane Jenkins,” Chance will sit down and look deep in thought over the news.
