The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Wednesday, May 17, teases that Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) will reel over Michael Baldwin’s (Christian LeBlanc) news about Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) faking her death and killing Jeremy Stark (James Hyde).
Although Lauren will be thrilled if Phyllis is really alive, she’ll also struggle over what Phyllis put everyone through.
Lauren will wonder what Michael’s next move is, so he’ll hint at a big break in the case after his private investigator’s phone call.
It turns out Stark initiated the process to collect Phyllis’ life insurance payment, but he died before he could finish the paperwork and cash out.
Michael will reveal that Stark gave his contact info to the insurance company and put down a local post office box.
From there, Michael was able to pull some strings and find out the registration info for the box, which involved a low-rent motel on the outskirts of Genoa City.
Lauren will realize it’d be the perfect place for a supposedly dead woman to disappear for a while.
Michael will think Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will love hearing where Phyllis might be hiding.
Meanwhile, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will realize Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) is dressed to go back to work, but she’ll continue shutting him out as she dashes off to do something on her own.
Once Summer meets with Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd), he’ll admit he’s skeptical about the story of Phyllis being alive and will think this is a defense scheme that’s going to backfire.
Summer will fish to find out the legal consequences if Phyllis returned, but Chance will mostly act like she’s just hurting herself with speculation.
When Summer finds Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) in the GCAC lobby, she’ll rip into him for stabbing Phyllis in the back.
Daniel will defend his efforts to protect all of them and will point out that he kept Summer out of it.
Summer will keep blasting Daniel anyway, so Kyle will wonder what’s up when he finds their confrontation in progress.
After Summer covers and takes off to run an errand, Kyle will once again feel like Summer’s not letting him in.
At the Abbott mansion, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) will act like Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is delusional for thinking she can avoid a trial, but Diane will be brimming with confidence.
Once Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) appears, Ashley will mention that Diane is practically dancing on poor Phyllis’ grave.
“Poor Phyllis? Oh, you have no idea what…” Diane will blurt out before trailing off.
Although Ashley and Tucker will push Diane to finish her thought, she’ll decide to keep what she knows under wraps.
In the park on Wednesday’s Y&R episode, Tucker will wonder what Diane was hinting at, but Ashley will want to change the subject.
After Tucker reveals how he hopes to watch Dominic Newman-Abbott-Winters-Chancellor’s (Rainn and River Ware) music class later, he’ll talk about this being his chance to prove himself to his grandson as well as Devon Winters (Bryton James) and Ashley.
Once Ashley suggests Tucker could move his stuff to her room, he’ll smile and joke that he’ll think about it.
At Society, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will get fed up with Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) attempts to discuss Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), so she’ll take off for work.
Back in the park, Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) will offer Nate a cup of coffee the way he likes it, but he’ll scold her for sending Elena to Los Angeles to get her heart broken.
Audra will act like Elena was suspicious anyway and will argue that even if Victoria wasn’t a problem, Elena wouldn’t get behind Nate’s vision for the future.
Nate won’t know what Audra means, so she’ll insist she’s figured out that he wants “his and her thrones” and a spot alongside Victoria running Newman Enterprises.
After Nate defends his strong connection with Victoria, Audra will admit that she can’t compete with it – though she’ll hope Nate can view her as an ally.
Nate will contend that they have to trust each other to get what they want – and he’ll feel certain that he knows what she wants.
Audra will confirm that she’d like to fill Nate’s Newman Media CEO spot as he moves up the corporate ladder.
Later, Victoria will find Nate waiting for her, so he’ll pounce on her with a passionate kiss and make it clear that their connection can’t be denied.
Victoria will agree as they get ready to strip down for lovemaking, but Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) arrival will force them to cool things down.
After Nate leaves, he’ll cross paths with Audra for a stare-down near the elevator.
Back with Nick, he’ll warn Victoria that Nate is playing her, but Victoria will argue that Nate makes her feel respected and admired – things she no longer felt when she found out about Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) scheme.
Victoria will reject Nick’s warning about her pattern with men and push him to trust her or keep his thoughts to himself.
