The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) could be on the verge of making a major change in her life. Although Chelsea’s work on Daniel Romalotti Jr.’s (Michael Graziadei) gaming platform has been rewarding, part of her may always feel like she belongs in the fashion industry.
Now that Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) is taking over the Marchetti CEO spot, she needs someone to help her run things.
Summer is hoping Chelsea will slide into the creative director spot since she could really use her expertise.
Marchetti falls under the Jabot umbrella, so Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) could spend more time with Chelsea if she took this position.
As a result, Billy will hold out hope that Chelsea might accept the offer so they can work under the same roof and squeeze in more romantic moments each day.
There’s a good chance Chelsea will indeed take over as Marchetti’s new creative director, but that doesn’t mean everything will work out as well as Billy hopes.
In fact, Chelsea’s decision to take this job could mean going on a lengthy Italy business trip.
It’d be the logical thing for Chelsea to do since Melissa Claire Egan’s maternity leave is coming up.
Chelsea will need some sort of exit strategy, so it makes sense for Summer to send her off to Italy on some fashion-related trip that’ll help Marchetti be more successful.
It could put Chelsea’s romance with Billy to the test once they’re doing a long-distance relationship for a while.
Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) is at sports camp according to some dialogue in the July 6 episode – and he could easily head back to boarding school after that or stay with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) full-time.
Regardless, it feels like everything is falling into place for Chelsea’s temporary Y&R departure.
Chelsea will be back once Melissa Claire Egan’s maternity leave concludes, but her exit until then could involve this new Marchetti gig and a trip out of the country.
