The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) may go against his own instincts with a bold move. Y&R fans know Nick’s become a strong, supportive presence in Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) life, but they’ve still been taking things slow.
Of course, Nick is starting to realize slow and steady may not win the race! Sally is having Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) baby, which gives them a permanent tie and a reason to grow closer.
Nick can tell that Sally is getting more comfortable around Adam, so he’s concerned about the possibility of Adam reeling her back in. It seems like Nick’s eager to assert his dominance and remind Adam that Sally picked him over his brother.
Nick’s feud with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) could play a role in what comes next as well. Victor feels like Nick is a fool for staying with Sally when she’s having Adam’s kid.
Furthermore, Victor believes Nick’s behavior is a slap in the face to Adam, who deserves a chance at marriage and a united family with the mother of his child.
The more Victor roots for Nick and Sally’s breakup, the more determined Nick may be to have a future with her. This could bring out Nick’s rebellious side and prompt him to take drastic action.
Nick’s trying to tell himself this is all about his connection to Sally, but there’s obviously an element of sibling rivalry going on, too.
There’s some deep-seated need for Nick to emerge victorious over Adam, so he may throw caution to the wind and pop the question.
Will Nick ultimately surprise Sally with an engagement ring and insist he’s all in on the next chapter? Nick might propose marriage and contend that it’s the first step toward building a real family with Sally by his side.
Although Nick isn’t trying to take Adam’s place as the father, he doesn’t want his own role in Sally’s life to shrink. That’s happening already, so Nick may dig his heels in even further when it comes to Sally and their couple status.
However, a move like this could backfire considering Sally’s independent streak. Sally might reject Nick’s marriage proposal and run in the opposite direction – meaning Nick could accidentally drive her back toward Adam instead.
Then again, Sally might be so afraid of her growing feelings for Adam that she actually accepts Nick’s potential engagement ring. That’d be another way to take this storyline if Nick asks Sally to marry him.
