The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) plan to play dead could lead to some unexpected consequences, so let’s talk about what that could mean for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman-Abbott’s (Allison Lanier) marriage.
Y&R fans know Phyllis has been working with Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) to frame Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), so Summer is convinced that Diane is guilty of killing her mom.
Kyle, on the other hand, trusts Diane enough to know she wouldn’t have taken her feud with Phyllis that far.
Since Kyle feels caught between his mother and wife, he’s already been worried about the possibility that his marriage won’t survive this.
However, there could be another threat that creeps in due to the investigation, which could mean bad news for Kyle and Summer’s relationship.
Summer has been pushing Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) to help her get justice and is certainly starting to share a lot more airtime with him.
In the April 17 episode, Kyle will catch Chance comforting Summer and offering to take her home.
That’ll lead to Kyle ranting about how Chance has done enough considering he wrongfully arrested Diane.
Kyle will also complain about Chance planting ideas in Summer’s head about Diane’s guilt, though Summer obviously won’t see it that way.
Even so, Kyle will warn Chance to stay away from Summer or pay the price, so the show may be building a new rivalry here.
Since Kyle will be barking threats and turning against Chance, that could be a hint about the trouble that’s brewing.
Y&R’s making Kyle’s anger toward Chance grow, but Summer approves of the work the detective’s doing so far.
That’ll give Kyle and Summer another reason to clash – and it could perhaps give Summer a reason to develop romantic feelings for Chance, too.
Could Summer cheat with Chance while her marriage is falling apart? All this Diane drama could easily lead to Summer landing in Chance’s bed at some point.
Of course, that could lead to Summer feeling terrible once Diane’s name is cleared.
There might be a situation where Summer hides her betrayal with Chance – at least until Kyle inevitably finds out anyway.
Regardless, Chance will keep working hard to get to the bottom of things.
Phyllis will make a mess after she kills Jeremy and has to create her own backup plan, so don’t miss what’s ahead.
