The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that a shocking return is in the works. The show’s bringing back a familiar face who was a fan favorite back in the 1990s and early 2000s, so let’s talk about Veronica Redd reprising her role as Mamie Johnson.
Y&R viewers will recall the glitzy bicentennial gala that happened earlier this year, which was really a way to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary. Several blast-from-the-past characters returned for the party that aired in March, including Mamie.
Just as a memory refresher, Mamie was the Abbott family’s loving and loyal maid for many years – though she truly became like family. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and the rest of the fam gave Mamie a warm welcome home during her last comeback.
There’s a chance Mamie will help settle a dispute between the Abbott siblings, especially if Jack and Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) latest feud spirals out of control.
Then again, Mamie might play a role in putting Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) in his place if he dares to step out of line in any way. Since Mamie is protective of all the Abbott family members, she may feel the need to warn Tucker if she sees any signs of trouble.
However, Mamie might also interact with another cluster of characters since she’s a great-aunt to Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Devon Hamilton-Winters (Bryton James).
There’s some family drama on the horizon for Devon and Abby Newman-Abbott (Melissa Ordway), so Mamie might tie in with that and offer a solution to any problems that arise.
As for how long Veronica Redd will stick around as Mamie Johnson, SOD confirms that she’ll be featured in multiple episodes starting September 26. There’ll definitely be enough time for Mamie to make her mark on Genoa City again and shake things up!
