The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 18, reveals that Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) will meet up with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and admit she hated having to get so close to Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) – though she’ll assure Jack that she didn’t have to cross the line.
Next on Wednesday’s Y&R episode, Jeremy will come out of the bathroom in his robe and realize Diane is gone from his suite.
Once Jeremy spots the necklace on the coffee table, he’ll put it in his robe pocket and open the door to find Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) standing there with his badge.
Chance will have questions about a burglary in Chicago, but Jeremy will insist had nothing to do with it and was in Genoa City last night.
However, Chance will have a warrant and will discover the schematics for the same Chicago building under Jeremy’s mattress.
Chance will also point out that a man about Jeremy’s size was spotted on surveillance footage wearing a black windbreaker.
Sure enough, the black windbreaker Diane planted will be there in the drawer.
The housekeeper revealed that a specific necklace was stolen and nothing else – indicating that the thief knew what he was after.
A pair of men’s reading glasses were found by the safe, so Chance will note that they were a match for Jeremy’s fingerprints.
Jeremy will protest that he was set up and will mention being in town to collect a debt.
Once Diane shows up with Jack, she’ll complain about Jeremy harassing her and claiming she owes him money.
Diane will act like she was embarrassed to have ever been involved with a guy like Jeremy, so she didn’t go to the cops – especially since Jeremy was careful to be vague about his threats.
Chance will ultimately search Jeremy once he’s dressed and will find the necklace in his coat pocket, so he’ll think that seems like pretty solid evidence.
After Jeremy blames Diane for stealing the necklace and framing him with Jack, Chance will ask where Diane was last night.
Jack and Diane will confirm they spent the whole night together, so Jeremy will fume.
Despite Jeremy’s insistence that he’ll beat the charges and be out by lunch, Chance will disagree.
Even if the burglary case is flimsy, Chance will argue that Jeremy is a paroled ex-con who just got caught in possession of stolen goods.
That’s a felony that could score Jeremy up to 10 years behind bars, so Jeremy will seethe as Chance takes him into custody.
Jeremy will warn Diane to sleep lightly since she hasn’t seen the last of him, but Diane will think that she has.
Later, Diane and Jack will be relieved since the threat’s finally over.
After Jack gives Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) updates, he’ll leave a voicemail for Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) to tell her he has good news and bad news following the Chicago robbery he heard about.
Jack will turn his attention back to Diane and suggest they can focus on them now, so they’ll share a passionate kiss.
At Jabot, Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) will annoy Kyle when she keeps comparing their mothers.
Kyle will think there’s a big difference since he’s trying to defend Diane from a dangerous criminal – one that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) sent after her.
Summer will act like the real difference is that she acknowledges Phyllis’ flaws while Kyle puts Diane on a saintly pedestal.
Once Kyle finds out Jeremy is in custody and being transferred to the Chicago PD, he’ll think the threat is over and will suggest everything can go back to normal.
Summer won’t be so sure since there always seems to be more chaos looming when it comes to Diane.
Furthermore, Summer will rant about Diane’s bad choices and how she’s dragging everyone down with her.
Although Summer won’t be justifying the people who have targeted Diane, she’ll need Kyle to see Diane for who she really is.
At Society, Phyllis won’t like this version of Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) who tries to steer her away from anger.
There’ll be talk about Diane playing Jack and cozying up to Jeremy, so Tucker will seem perplexed by that info.
Tucker will eventually wonder what it’ll take for Phyllis to let go of her Diane disdain, but Phyllis will suggest Diane needs to leave town or drive off a cliff.
Once the conversation shifts to Daniel Romalotti Jr (Michael Graziadei) and his project, Phyllis will warn Tucker to stay away from her son and won’t want them having any conversations about business.
At Devon’s penthouse, he’ll sit down with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) as they get on a video call with Jill Abbott (Jess Walton).
There’ll be some bickering about Devon wanting to buy back Hamilton-Winters and dissolve the merger, which could do serious damage in the press.
Devon will be willing to take the PR hit since he’ll feel like more damage would be done by leaving the companies joined.
Since Devon won’t feel safe with the IPO and will want his autonomy back, he’ll think dissolving the merger is the right call.
Lily will worry this will turn into a disaster, but Devon will act like that’s being a bit dramatic.
Although Jill will wish Devon had arrived at this conclusion months ago, she’ll try to understand Devon’s perspective and his need to protect his family legacy.
Jill will think they just have to determine if Devon not feeling good about the situation is worth incurring a huge loss since this would cost them all a lot of money.
While Jill and Lily discuss dissolving the merger offscreen, Devon will head to Society for a drink.
Tucker will approach Devon to suggest he still thinks there’s a path to forgiveness, but Devon won’t agree.
After Tucker points out that he isn’t going anywhere, Devon will take off and meet back up with Lily at home.
Lily will admit she worked it out with Jill and add that they reached a decision about Hamilton-Winters.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Lily’s about to throw Devon a curveball, so stay tuned to Y&R.
