The Young and the Restless Update: Monday, August 21 – Farewell Kiss, Former Flame Drama and Exciting Career Change

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Monday, August 21, indicates that Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) will catch a glimpse of Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) kissing Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), so she’ll seem uncomfortable in the GCAC dining area.

Later, it’ll be Lily’s turn to look uneasy since she’ll spot Daniel putting his hand atop Heather’s and insisting it’s great news that she’s sticking around.

Heather won’t have to rush back to Portugal since her firm will be shut down for a few weeks.

With Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant) still out of school for summer break, Daniel will look forward to spending extra time with her.

Y&R spoilers say Lily will end up chatting with Heather alone, but there’ll be a somewhat tense vibe despite the nice act they’re both putting on.

Heather will defend Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) genuine efforts to turn her life around and will hope she’s able to patch things up with her children.

Lily won’t be as convinced Phyllis has truly changed, so she’ll seem concerned about her doing more damage.

Since Lily knows what it’s like to raise a teenage girl, she’ll reflect on all the arguments and warn Heather about what’s coming. Heather will thank Lily for the heads-up as the awkwardness continues.

Lily will even mention how Lucy’s been asking questions about her history with Daniel, so Heather will act like it’s wonderful that the young lovers were eventually able to reunite.

However, the frown on Heather’s face will tell a different story when Lily steps away for a phone call.

Once Daniel gets off a phone call of his own with Lucy, he’ll give Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) updates at Crimson Lights and express excitement over spending the rest of the summer with his daughter.

In the park, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will fill Sharon in on Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) recommending him as the new chief of police since their current interim selection isn’t working out.

Chance will note that he hasn’t received an official offer yet, but he’ll be expecting to score the permanent police chief position if he wants it.

Although Chance will seek Sharon’s advice and listen to her positive opinion on this, he’ll know he has to make the decision himself.

It’ll seem like Chance is leaning toward taking the job by the end of the conversation.

Back at the coffeehouse, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will try to exclude Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) from the discussion he’s having with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) about their son’s future.

Adam won’t think it’s Billy’s place to weigh in on Connor Newman (Judah Mackey), but Chelsea will rush to Billy’s defense since he’s become an important part of her life as well as Connor’s.

Although Adam will want Connor to change to another school in Genoa City and rely on a therapist to get through this, Chelsea will think Connor’s been clear about his desire to leave town.

Adam will also have concerns about Connor living with Anita Lawson (Catherine Bach) considering her shady side, but Chelsea will ultimately plan to live there with Connor – at least until they find a place of their own.

Connor will catch Adam and Chelsea arguing at one point, so he’ll blow up at them.

Fortunately, it won’t take long to settle Connor down – and he’ll even have a recommendation after some online research.

There’ll be a school near Anita that specializes in helping anxious and depressed children, so Connor will suggest he wouldn’t feel so alone there.

Chelsea will check with Sharon and get confirmation that it’s a good school, so she’ll start viewing this a legitimate option to help Connor move forward in a healthy way.

Connor will know that if he leaves town with Chelsea, that’ll take her away from Billy.

Although Connor will be apologetic during a chat in the park, Billy will be proud of Connor for being brave and will hope to visit often.

Once plans start getting nailed down and it looks like this is actually happening, Chelsea will admit she hates to leave Billy – especially with all the Jabot drama and Abbott chaos going on.

Billy will think it’ll be fine and will understand that Connor is the priority now.

Chelsea will opt to work remotely and hire someone to be her eyes and ears at Marchetti in GC if need be.

After Billy and Chelsea discuss how much they’re going to miss each other, they’ll also share a farewell kiss.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Melissa Claire Egan’s maternity leave is the reason for Chelsea’s exit, so she’ll be back down the road!
