In tonight’s You, Me & My Ex’s finale episode, Danielle was also going through a rough patch with Josh. People don’t hear about it because the focus is usually on Josh’s ex-wife, Jennifer. Jennifer had become the center of all the drama in the house. I
t’s gotten to a point where Daniel and Josh don’t think they can or even should discuss their problems because they didn’t want to make their roommates feel worse than they already do. Only they couldn’t ignore their own issues for the long. The couple had moved in with his ex-wife and her new wife and the move was still relatively new. And it already toxic.
It was toxic for Daniel and Josh as well as for Jennifer and Chantal. This move was especially hard on the first couple because they were still getting used to Danielle’s new work hours.
She’s taken on the night shift. They also recently put off having a second child together. The times that are together, just the two of them has become so rare that they didn’t now was time to add a new baby to that mix. But they were working on their problems when they couldn’t. They didn’t simply ignore them like the other couple or making other people’s problem.
Danielle and Josh had a quiet night together. They shared glasses of wine. They talk through whatever’s been bothering them. They also decompress because being around Jennifer and Chantal’s drama is a lot.
Chantal struggles with trust issues. Jennifer feels like she couldn’t properly talk to her own wife because she didn’t want the other couple to overhear their fight. So, often they just stew in that anger. They don’t address it or at least work on it. They get angry and they stay angry and it was creating a tense atmosphere at the house.
There are reasons people shouldn’t have their exes overly involved in their lives. It tends to complicate things. Like the breakup that started it all. Chantal couldn’t keep her mouth shut on what Jennifer told her.
Even if it was about Josh. Jennifer then aligns herself with Danielle in order to feel vindicated. It was a toxic cycle they couldn’t shake. Speaking of toxicity, De’Andre showed his true colors when he ditched a single mom because he said he couldn’t be a stepdad. He pretended he gave the relationship his full attention. And that’s a lie.
De’Andre kept running between Elodie and his supposed ex Rowan. His mother was no angel either because she wanted him back together with Rowan. She refused to learn Elodie’s name. She was just constantly in her son’s ear telling him he deserved better and, now that she’s gotten what she wanted, she thinks she could guilt trip him to date Rowan again. Which he should have been shut down long ago! The fact that he didn’t shows he never wanted his relationship with Elodie to work. De’Andre just didn’t try with Elodie.
He ran at the first conflict. He got upset when her ex became involved in their lives because he felt he was the only one whose ex should play third wheel. He also never showed Elodie that she could trust him with her daughter and so it’s good that they broke up. There was no future for them. He didn’t want to deal with her ex. She didn’t want to deal with his ex. Now, he can run back to Rowan. It’s what his mother wants. It might be what Rowan wants. He should just stick with her and stop hurting other people.
Though Matt might have an ex turn into that crazy ex-girlfriend type. His ex Chelsea was supposed to be his best friend and so why did she fall through on best friend duties. She showed up for the end of his proposal to Kenzie. She didn’t congratulate them. She instead told him that he doesn’t know how hard this day was. She was clearly jealous. She was jealous enough to ghost him when she found out he was going to propose and she was jealous enough to make their engagement about herself when it happened. And it’s not fair to Kenzie.
Kenzie deserves better. She wouldn’t mind Chelsea being a part of their lives if Chelsea was just a friend. Not an ex-girlfriend. Not an ex-lover who gets jealous of her and who she gets jealous of as well. Matt should have been distancing himself from Chelsea after she failed to support him when he got engaged. He also should have told her not to speak disrespectfully about his upcoming marriage. Chelsea was over there throwing around words like how she was going to save him from this marriage. She doesn’t think he should marry Kenzie. And no friend should be welcomed after saying that.
Kenzie’s feelings have been dismissed time and time again. She deserves better. She just got back her house. She now doesn’t want to deal with his crazy ex or what Chelsea might do to “free” her fiance from this marriage. The only good thing in Kenzie’s case was that she didn’t pull a Caroline. Caroline just gave birth to a healthy baby boy. She had a sip and see with her husband, Alex. Not only did Alex invite his ex (Stephen) but he also invited the man that stole money from them (Patrick). Stephen came to the party with his new love interest and this love interest was also Patrick’s ex. And still they made out in the bathroom.
Alex doesn’t like Stephen’s new boyfriend, Marcus. He got mad at them for being together. He got mad for Marcus for mentioning that Alex might still have feelings for Stephen and so they started fighting. They were throwing drinks. And this happened after Caroline deliberately tossed her blue drink on Patrick, which caused him to leave the party early.
Alex got mad at Caroline and Caroline felt vindicated after Alex started throwing drinks.
And April has grown further apart from her best friend, but she has gotten closer to her ex-husband and reconciliation with Roy might be in the cards.
THE END!
