The Yellowstone prequel spinoff 1923 is returning for Season 2; however, ahead of filming it looks like the show will have one massive change. As per the Austin Business Journal, the production of the show will now be filmed at ATX Studios in Austin, Texas; meanwhile, the majority of Season 1 was filmed in Montana.
According to the report, Texas offered special tax incentives for 1923 to move production.

JP Gallagher, Butte-Silver Bow County Chief Executive talked to the Montana Standard about the news and notes that he may be “disappointed”, but understands why 1923 producers made the call.
Gallagher states, “The decision to film the Yellowstone series of 123 in Texas is disappointing. Nevertheless, we respect the production team’s decision and acknowledge that these choices are influenced by factors beyond our control. We were in talks with the production about 1923 coming back to Butte because of the positive experience they had here, but state tax incentive programs were a major factor for the production to move to Texas.”

Unfortunately, 1923 could catch a break when it came to Season 2. The Hollywood strikes created delays in production, and the show ultimately lost its Butte Civic Center contract to use the venue as a sound stage. This was just the precursor to the show heading out to Texas from Montana.
1923 streams exclusively on Paramount+ and takes place during the prohibition era and the Great Depression. It centers around the Dutton Family, and the cast is led by Harrison Ford, who plays Jacob Dutton, as well as actress Helen Mirren playing his wife, Cara Dutton as the two try to navigate and survive this tumultuous time in their lives, and the world around them.
The drama was initially only going to be a limited, one-season, series; however, Season 2 was slated after it became such a massive hit.
