9-1-1 Co-Creator Hints That No Characters Are ‘Unkillable’

9-1-1 Co-Creator Hints That No Characters Are ‘Unkillable’

No one wants to see their favorite characters die on a show; however, most fans can see that it does add to the drama factor. While 9-1-1 has made it through seven seasons without a main character getting the ax, this could all change … very soon!

The first responder series has had some close calls – from a shooting to a stabbing, a car accident, and more, but the show’s main characters have always escaped death. That is, until now!

9-1-1 Show Creator Teases Future Character Deaths

The show’s co-creator and current showrunner, Tim Minear recently spoke with The Wrap, noting that he doesn’t believe characters are “unkillable”.

He states that there have been some instances where characters have come close to dying, and he just didn’t want to kill any of them. He adds that when that day comes, it’ll be a “sad” one for him.

It’s certainly uncommon for a show to go this long without a main character (or two) passing away (especially in this day and age of primetime), and 9-1-1 viewers know how lucky they are, considering how many times their favs have been on the line. Tim’s statements don’t necessarily mean that a character death is coming soon, it just does indicate that at some point, it could come!

9-1-1 Season 8 Is Coming

Deadline reported in early April that 9-1-1 is returning to ABC for Season 8, so really anything is possible. But could a character pass away before then? What about as a cliffhanger to end Season 7?

There was that massive cruise ship disaster during the premiere of the current season, so it’s hard to say what will unfold as things wrap up.

The next new episode of 9-1-1 is set to air on Thursday, May 2 at 8 p.m. (ET) and is titled, “There Goes The Groom”. Fingers crossed that no character meets their demise during this show.
