In tonight’s 9-1-1 finale episode, there was a fire at the Nash house. Athena passed out from the smoke. Her husband Bobby had to carry her out. He made sure the paramedics looked at his wife first.

He wanted to make sure she was okay. He ignored his own condition. He didn’t think he needed help and that’s why he ignored that he too inhaled smoke. Enough of the stuff can damage the lungs.

It could also force a cardiac event. That’s what happened to Bobby. He should have asked for oxygen the second he cleared the house with his wife, but he was more worried about her than himself. And that might have cost him his life because Bobby had to be intubated.

Bobby’s odds were poor. He was in critical condition. He also had a DNR in place. Bobby was a organ donor and he didn’t want his loved ones waiting forever for him when his organs could save lives. Only Athena didn’t want to make a decision right away. She needed time. She was full of rage and she had to let it out at someone.

Why not the person that set fire to their house? Someone had deliberately set fire to their house. They somehow knew the layout of their midcentury modern home.

The last person in the house that night was Amir Casey. The same Amir that has a grudge against Bobby. Athena initially reached out to Amir because of his history with Bobby. Bobby was supposed to save Amir. Amir ended up getting badly burned and he lost his family. Bobby blames himself for that. Amir blamed him for that.

When Athena reached out to Amir, she did so under the guise that maybe he could help Bobby. Bobby was about to throw his whole career away out of guilt. Athena asked Amir to talk to her husband because she thought she could forgive him. And that it would free her husband.

Now that Bobby was at the hospital, Athena wanted revenge. She stopped by the house. She grabbed her gun. She contacted Maddie at work and she told Maddie that she was investigating a case. She wanted Maddie to look up Amir’s address for her. Maddie gave it to her because why not. She knew Athena was a cop.

She didn’t think it was strange that Athena wanted an address. It wasn’t until Chimney and Hen called her that she learned Bobby was in the hospital. They told her that an arsonist burnt their home. And that’s when Maddie realized that Athena was acting strange during their conversation.

Maddie told them about Amir. She also looked into Amir. She found out he used to live in Minnesota. He received his burn scars there and so she told the firefighters everything.

They were the ones that made the connection to Bobby. Bobby used to live in Minnesota. He used to have a different family. He got into a huge fight with his wife and his family died in a fire that Bobby always blamed himself for. Others blamed him for the same fire. Amir was one of them and that’s why Athena showed up at his house with a gun.

She had the chance to kill Amir. She didn’t take it. She instead wanted to arrest Amir. She was about to bring him in when a cartel showed up and took Amir away.

Amir seemed to expect them. He offered himself up so that Athena didn’t get hurt as well. It made Athena believe he was telling the truth when he said he didn’t set fire to her house. He also suggested it might have been the cartel that did that. Either way, the rest of the team was heading in that direction. Hen and Chimney wanted to stop Athena before she did something she couldn’t take back.

They were all set to leave the hospital when Bobby’s condition changed. They were there while Athena was following the men that took Amir. She found out that a man named Herman was involved. Herman’s grandson was his only family. Until Bobby forced him off the road. Until Amir performed surgery on the grandson.

The young man was now dead and Herman was taking vengeance. He didn’t even inform the cartels about what he did. He made a deal with the feds to flip on the cartel and he thought he was untouchable.

He proved to be wrong about that because Athena was still out for vengeance. She heard Herman confess that he set fire to her house. She set fire to the warehouse they were all in.

She called for backup. The police arrived in time to arrest everyone and she saved Amir from another fire. Amir didn’t report her breaking into his house or holding him at gunpoint. She saved his life. He felt he owed her one. Athena also got a call because her husband had woken up. Bobby was fine. And Athena rushed to his bedside.

Bobby was on the mend. No one needed to worry about Athena anymore. Eddie could finally deal with his own situation. His girlfriend left him. His son won’t talk to him. Chris called his grandparents and he told them that he saw his dad making out with his dead mom. They came on the next flight out.

Chris doesn’t want to talk his dad or hear his excuses. He’ll talk to everyone else. Just not Eddie. Chris told his grandparents that he wants to move in with them in Texas and Eddie ultimately chose to let Chris go because that’s what Chris needed.

First, he told him he loves him no matter where he lives and then he said goodbye.

And Hen has to figure out how to get Mara back. Mara was put in a group home after Councilwoman Ortize vetoed her adoption. Sadly, Mara doesn’t do well in group homes. She struggles. She went through a lot of foster homes and Hen’s place was the first place she called home after losing her parents.

Putting her back into foster care when there was a family willing to take her was cruel. Hen and Karen had to come up with a plan to get her back. While they were figuring that out, Maddie and Chimney filed for temporary placement and Mara will be living with them for now.

And Amir talked to Bobby. He finally chose to forgive him and Bobby realized he couldn’t quit. Not now. Bobby went back to work. He ran into Captain Gerrard who also claimed he was captain of the 118. Gerrard was running things because Bobby had already quit, remember.

THE END!
