In tonight’s 9-1-1- Lone Star episode, Carlos and TK are in couples’ counseling. Their relationship has been struggling. The death of Carlos’s father was what kicked off this rift. It also didn’t help that Carlos took on a new job.

Carlos became a Texas Ranger because he wanted to use their resources. He was investigating his father’s murder and he thought his father’s old cases would lead him to a killer.

Only Carlos wasn’t finding new leads. He was where he was six months ago. He would often stay on at work at all hours of the day trying to find something and ending up with nothing. The little time he actually devoted to his husband usually ended with him falling asleep early into the night.

They haven’t slept together in a while. Carlos actually fell asleep the last time TK initiated things. It was a first for TK and this was what made him realize they need counseling.

He’s never had a partner fall asleep on him before. He thought it meant they were drifting apart. He wanted to fight for the relationship. He came up with counselling and Carlos wasn’t really ready to face his failures. He was still obsessed with his father’s case. He didn’t want to admit that he was spiraling. He instead brought up something TK did six months ago as a way to divert the therapist.

She didn’t fall for it. Neither was TK going to allow him to shift blame. Their one year anniversary was coming up. TK didn’t want to celebrate that with a divorce. He was hoping the therapist could help them and he was trying to get advice on what to do from Tommy on the side. TK used to call his mom for these sort of problems.

She sadly passed away. Tommy was the next best thing for him. She was helping TK in-between calls. They got called to a runaway horse that had someone passed out on him. It turns out a cowboy had a heart attack while riding and so his horse rode into a crowd to get help for him.

It was too late to save the cowboy. He died. They even allowed the horse to say goodbye to him. The horse’s name was Thunder. No one at the family ranch could handle him. He only allowed the dad to ride him.

He was too wild with everyone else and so the family didn’t care about getting him back. They planned on putting him down. Which Owen felt bad about. Owen thought Thunder deserved a second chance. He convinced the family to give him the horse and he took the horse to work with him. He wanted to make room for it.

The horse was a little high maintenance. He doesn’t like glasses or anyone touching his muzzle. He was fine with lights and sirens because he usually causes an emergency.

He also peed on the floors that Judd just mopped clean. The whole team was against the horse living at the station. Owen was someone that loves a challenge and he thought he could fix the horse. He didn’t know about TK’s marriage being on the brink. It could have been the problem he was looking for and so that’s on TK. The paramedics later got called to a tour bus.

The bus just came back from Mexico. There were several people on the bus that got sick. Some were seizing. It turns out they were all drug mules. They were involved in drug smuggling.

The person that packed their drugs didn’t did do a proper job and it ruptured inside of several of the mules. They had to be given narcan. Tommy also had Nancy drive the tour bus to the hospital so that all the patients got treated faster. It wasn’t enough to save them only it was no longer her problem. The Texas Rangers became involved.

Carlos was investigating with his partner. One of the victims was Whitney. She was traveling with her spitting image of a sister and Whitney never told Cameron about what she was doing.

Cameron wasn’t really paying attention during their short trip to Mexico. She was a lawyer. She was constantly exchanging emails with colleagues. She also had a young child at home. She wasn’t paying attention to Whitney and now she’s going to regret that for the rest of her life. She didn’t even know that Whitney was having money troubles.

Whitney had a gambling addiction. She was supposed to have been clean for the past two years. Its what she told her family and now Cameron wasn’t sure if that was true.

She also couldn’t assist the Rangers in any way. She didn’t know her sister’s friends. She didn’t know the passcode to her sister’s cell phone. She was completely in the dark and so her looks came in handy. She could easily pass for her sister. Carlos used her face to open Whitney’s phone. They found text messages and the case was closed fairly easy.

It’s a good thing too because Carlos didn’t need another case at the time. He was still trying to figure out an anniversary gift for TK and Ranger Campbell suggested he phone in the gift.

They have a lot of open cases. Campbell’s wife understands that his focus has to be on work. He told Carlos to do what he did and get his spouse the same gift every year. Carlos might just have to do that. He and Campbell learned that Whitney borrowed money from loan sharks. Those same people sent her on a trial run with this past trip. And now they’ll be arrested for drug smuggling as well as murder.

Carlos saw how devasted Cameron was. Cameron was left feeling like she didn’t even know her sister. It made Carlos realize that he didn’t want to be like Campbell. He didn’t want to waste what little time he has with TK.

He came up with an idea. He gifted TK an empty box. Every night he will put away his case files in the empty box. Along with his cell phone. Carlos was going to use his time at home to be there for his husband and to stop obsessing. TK loved his gift. It gave him his husband back.

And Judd helped Owen figure out what to do with the horse. They were going to bring the horse to Wyatt’s mom’s ranch. She was good with horses. It would also allow Owen to check on Thunder every few months.

THE END!
