In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, Firehouse 118 has survived everything. They survived a tsunami, earthquake, and several gunmen. They’ve always survived because they knew they could count on their captain. He was their pillar. They knew that as long as Bobby Nash was still around that nothing could truly hurt them.
Bobby was that great of a guy. He wasn’t superman or anything and he has faced his own struggles, but no one expected he would put in his retirement papers without telling anyone. Nor did his friends/family realized they would be stuck with a dinosaur. The new captain was the worst. Captain Gerrard was sexist, racist, and a homophobe.
Chimney and Hen have worked with him before. They didn’t want to go back to those dark days. Therefore, it was great to hear that Bobby wanted to come back to work.
He regretted putting in his papers. He wanted to continue to lead the team. It was just going to take some extra red tape to undo what he did. The 118 had to survive without Bobby in the meantime and so it was the worst moment to face a new challenge. They faced a bee-nado. It was a tornado made of bees. Millions of bees were being transported by a truck when the truck got into an accident.
It happened on the freeway. The cargo spilled over. The bees were free to go anywhere and unfortunately they didn’t just fly off. They instead stuck around to sting as many people as humanly possible.
Those bees were vengeful bees. They could kill thousands on their rampage. Los Angeles wasn’t prepared for a bee-nado. The mayor could put out a city-wide alert and it wouldn’t count if people don’t pay attention to it. They usually don’t consider it when it comes to anything else. Missing kids? Nope. Flooding? Nope.
No one was going to pay attention to a bee-nado until it kills them. Then to make matters worse, Athena was given a tough task. She was contacted by the federal government.
She was chosen by an inmate to escort him from Arizona to LA. The inmate was Dennis Jenkins. He killed a cop. That cop was Athena’s fiancé. She searched for Jenkins for years to get justice for her fiancé and she finally found him. She put him behind bars. She thought he’d die there. And now it seems he was about to get early release.
Jenkins made a deal with the government. He was the cellmate to Maxwell Fulton. Fulton was a human trafficker who sold underage girls to important men around the country. He was caught. He was put behind bars. Only he refused to name any of his clients. He wouldn’t take a deal even if it was to give himself a lighter sentence.
Fulton didn’t care about that because he went on to kill himself in prison. He died in an Arizona federal jail. It was investigated. It was ruled a suicide and the feds were still looking for names of those rapists.
Jenkins claimed Fulton gave him the names. He used that to leverage an early release for himself. All that he asked was that it be Athena that transports him to California. He knew she hates him. She figured he chose her because he just wanted to gloat in her face. He wanted her to know he was getting out.
He could have easily signed his new deal and fade into the background. He didn’t have to ask for Athena. Not after after everything she’s been through. Athena hated this man. She hated this assignment. She still had to do it because Jenkins wouldn’t testify for the government if he didn’t get to toy with Athena first.
Athena’s day was off to a rough start. All of their days was off to a rough start. Bobby was being a fireman consultant for a tv show. He hates it there. He had to do it because the Fire Chief told him to. Gerrard was meanwhile basically torturing everyone at the firehouse. He seems to especially get under Buck’s skin.
Buck wanted him gone. He was coming up with all these crazy ideas. He considered everyone at the firehouse quitting to force the Fire Chief to see how unlikeable the captain was. He also considered finding ways to get Gerrard fired.
The last one wasn’t going to work. Chimney and Hen told him they already tried that. Gerrard keeps coming back like a movie villain. There was no getting rid of him.
It was while they were all hating their days that the accident with the bees happened. There was a mother and daughter trapped in their car that was surrounded by bees. They couldn’t get out because they were both allergic. They had just the one EpiPen. The mother naturally used it on the daughter when the bees got into the car.
The mom also got stung. Maddie was on the phone with them when she taught the eight year old girl how to get another injection out of the one EpiPen. It worked and Maddie saved the day.
Buck also got the bees away from the car. He used smoke to calm them. It worked. Gerrard still punished him while taking credit for what Buck did. The bees were being controlled until their transport vehicle blew up. It agitated the bees. The million that was there went on to meet more bees and create a bee-nado.
It was on the news and everything. People still ignored it. There was a woman that was launching a new fragrance and so she threw a massive party in spite of the bee problem.
The bees liked her new scent because they attacked her assistant that was wearing it. The bees love a floral scent. Buck figured that out. It was his team that got called to the scene. He nominated Eddie to get sprayed with the scent because he said Eddie was the fastest runner. Eddie was running around while they got to the assistant and gave her treatment.
They called in a bee expert. He later vacuumed the bees off Eddie. No one else was harmed there. Athena on the other hand faced a man pretending to be a federal agent that tried to take Jenkins from her.
Athena saw through that man’s ploy and locked him up in the truck of his car. Jenkins saw the whole thing. He said that’s why he asked for Athena. He told her he was afraid for his life. He knew information on people that could get him killed and Athena was the one person he trusted not to be dirty.
Athena took him on a flight to LA. She was another one that didn’t pay attention to the bee-nado. She and Jenkins were on the flight when millions of bees flew into the engine. Their plane was going down.
And Buck saved Gerrard’s life, but Gerrard might not make it thanks to a work accident.
THE END!
