In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, the first responders often face weird if not unusual cases. Athena once got called in about an elderly abduction. She was informed that a man’s wife left with his mother and his mother was taken against her will. Now, everyone was called in to assist Athena with what they thought was an elderly woman being held by force.
It turns out the mother was dead. The married couple were fighting about her ashes. She’s been dead for a while. The husband ripped out his wife’s crafting corner to build a shrine to his mom. His wife thought it was weird. She took her mother-in-law’s ashes. She later got arrested only the case didn’t end there.
The husband put his mother’s ashes in a very expensive vase. The vase was worth a fortune. The husband kept that form his wife because he knew they would inevitably get a divorce and he didn’t want to share his family inheritance with her. He got the vase back tonight. Then he tripped and the vase fell. It cracked.
His mother’s ashes went everywhere. He couldn’t even get back together with the wife because the house is in her name and she was never going to forgive him for placing ashes over her.
Still, life can be pretty weird for everyone. Not just first responders. Eddie has started going back to church. He told his priest about everything that happened with his son and his dead wife’s doppelganger.
The poor priest didn’t know what to say to that. Eddie’s case was a first for him. He ended up telling Eddie to give his son’s space. He also suggested finding comfort in prayer. Buck meanwhile learned that he shared an ex with his new boyfriend. They both dated Abby Clark. Tommy was even engaged to her for two years.
Tommy was the one that called it quits. He realized he was gay. He didn’t want to keep leading her on and anyways he heard she hooked up with a major himbo right after their split. Tommy didn’t know he was describing Buck. Buck figured out they dated the same person. He had no clue how to tell Tommy.
They were just celebrating their six month anniversary. Tommy got him Lakers tickets. Buck paid for dinner. He then sought out his sister’s advice on what to do. Buck cares for Tommy. He just thought Tommy was a cruel to lead Abby on and so Josh entered the conversation.
Josh once worked with Abby. He never met Tommy, but he knows better than to judge him. Josh told Buck that there were gay people in the pre-Glee world and the post-Glee world. The guys that came in before that had to make awful decisions just to survive. It’s sweet that Buck doesn’t want anyone to be hurt.
Only he was now an openly gay man thanks to the sacrifices others have made to pave the way for him. Buck really likes Tommy. Josh’s advice helped him to not judge his boyfriend. And Maddie meanwhile was joking around about how many men Abby turned gay.
Jokes aside, Maddie was having her own issues. She sprung on Chimney that they should probably have a second child. Neither of them were only children.
Maddie loved having a little brother. She wanted the same for Jee-Yun. Chimney on the other hand didn’t want to go through a rollercoaster again. Maddie had severe postpartum depression after the birth of their daughter. It almost killed her. She almost killed their child. He didn’t want to risk it and he thought adoption would be a better option than having a second child naturally.
Maddie doesn’t mind adoption. She wouldn’t shoot that idea down. It’s just she likes having Jee-Yun. She sees herself and Chimney in their daughter.
She also said postpartum depression wasn’t a guarantee. They knew the risks now. Maddie can always go back to therapy. She would like to have a second child of their own. She and Chimney disagreed on that. They weren’t talking when the firefighters later got called to a scene of an accident. There was a toddler that fell down an open drainpipe. His name is Jack.
Jack’s older brother Miles was supposed to be reading to him. Miles didn’t want to be bothered. Their parents were busy arguing with the contractors that were supposed to be building the new pool.
Miles told Jack to get lost and so Jack went outside. He fell down the drainpipe. Miles spotted him. He told their parents. They called 911. By time the firefighters showed up, Jack was slowly slipping further down the drain. The firefighters weren’t small enough to send them in after Jack and so Miles volunteered. Miles’s assistance saved Jack’s life.
Miles didn’t even mind reading Jack his favorite story to him anymore. He remembered he was a big brother and that it was up to him to look after Jack. It was a sweet moment on call. The firefighters don’t always see that. Especially not after they witness an ex-husband’s gut spilling out during a divorce.
He sneezes when he lies. He didn’t sneeze when he said he never loved his wife only he did sneeze when he said he’d never cheat on her again. Chimney got to see that honesty was the best policy. He also realized that maybe his daughter deserves a sibling.
Chimney later spoke with Maddie. He agreed to have a second child. He then figured out she was pregnant already. He didn’t mind though. He and Maddie felt only joy.
They couldn’t wait to tell their families their news. Jee-Yun was going to be an amazing big sister. Like Maddie. Maddie wouldn’t trade Buck for the world. She was even there for him after his heartbreak.
Buck got dumped. He told Tommy the truth that he also dated Abby. He then did something impulsive. He asked Tommy to move in and Tommy turned him down.
Tommy was Buck’s first gay relationship. He knew Buck wasn’t ready to settle down yet because Buck hasn’t come to terms with everything about being gay. Tommy broke up with Buck. He did it because he didn’t want to get his own heart broken. And now Buck was once again single.
And Eddie was finally leaving his depression behind him thanks to some advice from Father Bryan.
THE END!
