In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, there’s a man calling himself “Flash Rob”. He puts together flash groups to rob places. He sets these groups up entirely online. He’s never shown his face. He was also rather careless with the people he lets into his discord group. The cops found out where the group was hitting next.

They were lying in wait and they managed to arrest everyone. Athena even came close to arresting Flash Rob himself. She saw him waiting outside of the store. She tried to pursue him and unfortunately he outran her. Athena was in great shape, but she wasn’t exactly young anymore. She pulled a hamstring. And the bad guy got away.

Athena was blaming herself for what happened. She was afraid of being viewed as too old. Its why she was pushing back against a desk job and so the one thing she didn’t need was a partner. She was a lone wolf. Athena has always gotten things done by herself. She doesn’t want a partner.

She also believed the young officer she’s training was in fact a caretaker. Someone to watch over her now that she was getting older. Athena didn’t want a nurse nor did she want to train anyone. She tried to pass Officer Sparks off onto someone else and her boss vetoed it.

Sparks was riding with her whether she liked it or not. Athena just had to deal with it. The same way Buck has to deal with being dumped. Buck didn’t want to appear needy by texting Tommy or begging him to take him back. He instead channeled all of his excess energy into baking. He’s gotten really good at baking.

He had a fridge full of loaves. He also spotted early on that his sister was pregnant again and he was so happy for Maddie. The pregnancy was still a secret for now because Maddie was in her first trimester. Only Buck got to celebrate by making her favorite dishes.

Buck’s cooking overall has gotten better. He had just made a delicious dinner for his team at the 118 when he saw bubbles on his cell phone. Tommy was writing him something and he stopped. He changed his mind on texting Buck. Buck was just so happy to see the bubbles that he thought maybe Tommy regretted their breakup.

He was about to text back and his friends stopped him. They played keep away with his cell phone. LAFD Chief Simpson came in right as they were playing and he broke up the atmosphere by bringing bad news.

The 118 responded to an accident on the set of the “Hotshots” series earlier that week. It was a television series about firefighters. Bobby worked as their technical advisor for a few months before he returned to the 118. Captain Gerrard was now the technical advisor for the show, but he wasn’t a good one. He did whatever the cast and crew told him to do. He never told them “no”. Not even when they needed to be told that. He let one actor go up for an aerial shot. The guy passed out. The real firefighters had to come and rescue him.

The star of “Hotshots” misses Bobby. He called Chief Simpson. He demanded to get Bobby back. The Chief didn’t really want to demote Bobby only the tv set does make a lot of money for the city. Simpson asked Bobby to talk to Gerard. He wanted Bobby to help Gerard become likeable. The Chief knew it was a tough ask. He only went to Bobby because there’s no one else that Gerard respects in the whole of LAFD. Bobby later visited the set. He quickly spotted the problems with Gerard. Gerard was loving the perks of the job a little too much.

He has the production assistants running out to get him coffee. He called all of them “kid”. He only bothered to learn the names of the stars and not anyone with the production team. Gerard was still his jerk self. He also didn’t want to lose this job. He’s never been happier and so he begged Bobby to talk to Brad Torrence. Brad developed a bond with Bobby. He also helped him land a plane with Athena onboard. Everyone though Bobby can get through to the actor. Its just that Athena couldn’t get through to the rookie. Her gut feeling told her something was off about him.

Sparks accidentally told her he became a cop for the power. His father was a conman. He used to abuse him and his mother. Until one day the neighbors called the cops. Sparks told Athena that the first time he had ever seen his father scared was when he was talking to a cop. He realized then that they were the ultimate power. Athena tried to tell him that wasn’t a good reason to become a cop. He then claimed that no he was really interested in helping people. He tried to walk back how he really felt and Athena never forgot a red flag.

They caught up to Flash Rob. His real name is Caleb Sandstrom. Sparks jumped on the back of a moving vehicle and he managed to arrest Caleb without getting hurt. It had been a miracle he wasn’t injured. He was also a little too cocky about what happened. He didn’t follow LAPD’s rules on car chases. Athena’s gut was telling her that something was off with him. Her boss wasn’t too happy with Sparks either. She spoke with Robbery Unit. They were furious that Sparks broke the chain of command.

Athena had Sparks transferred to someone else. She tried to get him fired and her boss wouldn’t accept her gut feeling as evidence. Not when they spent about two hundred grand on training a rookie cop. Sparks was given a different officer. He and his new CO ran into trouble on the road. They met a sovereign citizen. She didn’t have an authorized license plate. She didn’t want to roll down her window or provide them with a driver’s license or proof of insurance. Sparks tried to reason with her by mentioning his uncle was a sovereign citizen.

The crazy lady called him an embarrassment to his family as well as the movement. She was livestreaming when she said that and so she caught Sparks on video breaking her window and trying to force her out of the car. Sparks then said “taser” when really he went for his gun. He shot the woman. Athena was on the scene and she wasn’t fast enough to stop Sparks, but she made sure the woman survived. The motorist will probably get a settlement for what she survived. Sparks meanwhile had a hearing and he was looking at charges and getting fired from the job.

Bobby dinner with Brad also didn’t end well. Brad was being a jerk to a waitress and so Bobby called him out. He threatened to kick his butt if he didn’t apologize. Brad never apologized only his respect for Bobby grew. He had his character go in a coma. And he was going to be shadowing Bobby for the next few weeks if not months, Chief Sampson already signed off on it.

And Athena agreed to become a training officer because she realized she could help the kids become good cops.

THE END!
