Blue Bloods Recap

Detective Danny Reagan arrested Paulie Sabino for rape. He was caught at the scene. There was a living victim to identify him and so it was a closed case. However, Sabino was arrested the week before for the exact same thing. It was another detective working the case.

Detective Gus Vanderlip arrested him. He made a compelling case. He couldn’t believe that Sabino got out. He actually stormed Danny’s crime scene because he wanted to beat the living daylights out of Sabino.

The most he did was get a few officers with a cheap shot when they pulled him away from attacking a handcuffed man.

Vanderlip couldn’t reach Sabino. He instead took his frustrations on civilians afterwards. He found the lawyer that represented Sabino. The one that got him off on a technicality.

He threatened the guy into telling him how he got Sabino off. He didn’t hit him or anything. He did use his gun to intimidate him. He sent the video to Lieutenant Gormley. Gormely worked with Vanderlip. They were close.

Gormely didn’t want his friend to face charges if he keeps going like that. He knew why Vanderlip was like that about this case.

Gormely knew Vanderlip’s past. Vanderlip had a kid sister that was raped as a child. She was never the same again and Vanderlip has always taken those cases hard. He wanted to solve all of them.

He wanted to put them behind bars where they couldn’t hurt anyone else again. Somehow this defense lawyer got Sabino on a technicality. He made a case with a judge. The judge agreed to dismiss the case.

Vanderlip went after the prosecutor next. She brazenly admitted to having ties with the public defense office. And that’s why she agreed with what he said.

Vanderlip got her to confess at gunpoint. He had pulled his gun out. She was terrified enough to be honest with him. Vanderlip said the whole system was screwy. He said cops do their jobs and that the legal system do whatever they want based on who they liked that day.

After he got the prosecutor to tell him why, he went after the judge. The judge refused to talk at gunpoint. She made him put his gun away and that’s when she secretly reached for her own. She shot Vanderlip in cold blood.

Vanderlip survived the shooting. He didn’t return fire. He ran out of the house and he fled on foot. He still broke into a judge’s home and tried to hold her at gunpoint. She can claim self-defense. He couldn’t. Danny was looking for him.

The best Vanderlip could get was to be brought in alive. Danny was looking for him when his younger brother got an undercover assignment. Jamie and his wife Eddie put in for leave six months ago.

It was their five year wedding anniversary. They wanted to celebrate it. And unfortunately they were forced to work that day.

Captain McNichols said she tried everything. She couldn’t give them the day off. She can however assign them both on some undercover work that day. They were pretending to be addicts to capture the corruption at a halfway house.

The woman running it wasn’t fit for the job. The cops that stayed outside would often come inside to party. The addicts could do whatever they want. This included buying drugs on the front doorstep.

The cops saw everything. Jamie and Eddie only broke cover because a woman was OD’ing in front of the regular cops and no one was reaching for Narcan.

The halfway house was going to get shut down. The other halfway house in that cooperation were also going to get a second look. Jamie and Eddie did their part. Now it was up to the prosecution. They failed Vanderlip.

They might just fail the Reagans too. Danny and Gormely caught up to Vanderlip. They agreed to get him a good lawyer. He refused to accept it. He got released and he left the country. Danny could have caught up to him and he chose not to pursue him. Both he and Gormely chose to let Vanderlip escape.

It would have been a shame to lock up a good cop along with people that deserved it. Frank also had to look the other way. His father asked to make sure that a cop that recently died would get the 9/11 benefits from the compensation fund. Frank looked into it.

He found out that the cop wasn’t at Ground Zero. He just provided peer to peer counseling for the ones that were. Henry still wanted the man to receive benefits because he was the last cop he pinned as Police Commissioner. He stayed in touch with the family. And he felt the officer deserved better than he got.

Frank made sure the man’s family got money from the compensation fund. He also went to church with his dad. They also had a great Sunday night dinner. They all mocked Jamie and Eddie’s fifth anniversary because that was the year of the wood. And they could make sexual puns from that one.

The End!
