In tonight’s Chicago Med episode, it was Code Orange in the ED. They were celebrating Halloween. Most of the staff came dressed up in costume for the kids staying the night and it was just Dr. Lenox that didn’t participate. She said Halloween was the busiest night of the year. They needed to take it seriously.

She said that right before a man dressed as Mexican wrestler went running past in his underwear. There’s a lot that goes down on Halloween. Drs. Asher and Ripley chose a couple’s costume.

She was Barbie. He was Ken. Dr. Frost also showed up in a matching costume with the student doctor. They both went as Minions. They didn’t plan it or anything. It simply worked out that way and technically no one ever sees a Minion by itself.

Dr. Frost was still dealing with the notoriety. He was a teenage heartthrob. He was on a tv show and most millennial women remember him with fondness as their first crush.

He could easily have used that to get dates, but Frost was ashamed of his past. He didn’t use it. He didn’t want to talk about it. He just wanted it to go away. The same way Sharon wanted her stalker to go away. She was so on edge that she accidentally maced a kid in the neighborhood. She took Kyle to get treated. She also profusely apologized to both him and his mother.

Kyle and his mom were pretty understanding. They were more concerned about Sharon fearing someone was in her house. She lives alone and she’s been receiving death threats.

She called the cops to check her home while she was at the hospital with Kyle. She wasn’t leaving that hospital anytime soon. Sharon being at work turned out to be a good thing. Dr. Asher had a patient that was concerned about her pregnancy. Asher couldn’t see or treat her because Dr. Lenox changed the rules.

Lenox felt that Asher could use the ED during certain hours in the day. She didn’t leave room for emergencies. Nor she did take into account that most people are working during those hours.

Asher’s patient said she felt something was wrong and this wasn’t her first pregnancy. The woman wasn’t blowing things out of proportion. She knows that this pregnancy felt different than her first one. Asher was begging Lenox to get permission to at least do an ultrasound when Sharon overheard their discussion. And okayed the treatment.

There was also a babysitter that came to the hospital with the baby she watches. The baby turned out to be Nate. Nate was Sully’s son. Sully went to prison.

Ripley promised to look after him and now the kid was in the ED. His hands turned blue. He was crying. The babysitter didn’t know what went wrong.

She took Nate to the hospital and called his mother. Ripley ran into Lynne on her way in. He smelled the liquor on her. He realized she went to a Halloween party. He judged her. He accused her of partying when she should have been taking care of her infant son.

The boy wasn’t even a year old yet. Lynne was on her own with him. She wanted one night out and Ripley shouldn’t have judged her for it. This goes double for the fact that he’s not helping. Sully went to prison out of loyalty to Ripley. Ripley shouldn’t be too hard on a mother doing it alone. Nate had pneumonia.

Dr. Frost treated him with antibiotics. He was also going to be moved upstairs until his fever goes down. Ripley also had to return to his own patients. He was treated a nun. An actual nun.

Her name was Mary Katherine. MK for short. She came in with stomach pain. Ripley ordered a CT. He found images of a baby. MK had a miscarriage more than twenty years ago.

The remains didn’t leave on its own and she hadn’t known she was pregnant. She was experiencing pain now years after the miscarriage because she was going into menopause.

They needed to remove the tissue. MK agreed to surgery and Ripley was in the OR with her when Asher finished things up with her patient. Olivia was right that there was something was wrong. Her body created antigens that stopped her baby’s heart from developing properly.

It would have killed the child if she hadn’t gotten treatment. It was a girl by the way. Asher let it slip by accident and Olivia wasn’t mad. Olivia’s older child had walked off during the consultation.

Leo was on the spectrum. He gets anxious by loud noises. He was supposed to wear his headphones when he took them off to go see what Ted was doing. Ted was an adult man having a psychiatric episode. He was going through a nasty divorce. He was worried about losing custody. Everyone thought he needed to be committed and Jackie was the only one that didn’t think he was crazy.

Jackie was committed herself. She seems to be having issues with her own child. Dr. Charles thought that’s why she was excusing Ted’s behavior and the whole time she was right. Ted wasn’t suffering from mental illness. He was having an adverse reaction to nasal spray. Yeah, it was that simple.

Ripley also talked to MK about Lynne and Nate. She reminded him that he wasn’t the only one that lost Sully. Sully was dying and he couldn’t even spend it with his family. Lynne had to watch him whither away behind bars. She was struggling with that just as much as he was.

Dr. Lenox meanwhile calmed Leo down. She got on the floor with him. She put him at ease. Olivia called Lenox a kind soul. She didn’t know that Lenox wanted to deny her treatment and no one brought it up.

Both Asher and Maggie commended Lenox. She ran off quickly after that, but the situation with Olivia made Sharon see that they needed a mobile OR so that pregnant women can gain access to treatment as soon as possible. This way Lenox’s hours stay up and Asher treats patients before they become emergencies with routine prenatal checks.

Dr. Frost had a minor run-in with a teenager that escaped the psych unit. The teenager bit him and he had to be forcibly detained. Only the whole thing was seen by everyone. It created a new Halloween myth.

Sharon was finally forced to go home when the police said they didn’t find any evidence of someone breaking it, but Sharon’s neighbor’s ring camera spotted someone in her house. She had been right. There was someone there.

And Ripley later assured Lynne that he would help with the baby.

THE END!
