Chicago Med Season 10 Spoilers: Fan Favorite Confirms They Aren’t Returning

According to Variety, Chicago Med will be short a doctor for Season 10, as the outlet is reporting that actor Dominic Rains is not returning to the drama.

He has played Dr. Crockett Marcel since Season 5. He is officially exiting as a series regular; however, there’s always the possibility he could come back in a guest-starring role.

Chicago Med Season 10 Spoilers: Dr. Crockett Marcel Takes A Leave Of Absence

During Chicago Med’s Season 9 finale, Crockett made a decision not to perform surgery on a young patient by the name of Colin. The boy died, which led to his father committing suicide.

This hit Crockett very hard, and S. Epath Merkerson (Sharon Goodwin) suggested that he take a leave of absence. The doctor later mentioned that the incident hit him hard as he lost his daughter to leukemia.

The whole situation must be a difficult one for Crockett, so for now, he may need some time to process things.

Chicago Med has experienced a lot of changes as of late. In addition to Rains’ exit, this past April, the series announced that its showrunners, Andy Schneider and Diane Frolov, would be stepping down.

As per a Deadline report released in May, Allen MacDonald will be stepping in as the new showrunner for Season 10, as well as executive producer.

Chicago Med Season 10 Spoilers: What Should Fans Expect

While Crockett will not be returning for the Season 10 premiere, it sounds like the drama will explain his absence and if he’s ever coming back.

As he’s taking a “leave” there’s a good chance that he could return at some point, even as a guest star, and the show could also keep a door open for something more permanent in the future. As of this writing, a replacement for Rains/Crockett has not been announced.
