While actor Jesse Lee Soffer, who played Jay Halstead, left Chicago P.D. early on in Season 10, according to a TVLine report, the actor is set to join the cast of FBI: International as a series regular. With that being said, even though the two Dick Wolf dramas are set on the same timeline, Soffer will be playing a brand-new character.
Fans may recall that Soffer’s former castmate, Tracy Spiridakos was once on FBI, portraying Hailey Upton (her Chicago P.D. character); however, this won’t be the case, for Jesse.
FBI International: Jesse Lee Soffer Joining The Cast
Soffer will be filling the void left by Scott Forrester, played by actor Luke Kleintank, who exited during FBI: International’s Season 3.
While fans had hoped that Jay Halstead would return to Chicago P.D., it looks like that won’t happen anytime soon. The silver lining to this all is that Soffer did direct a couple of P.D. shows after his departure.
The addition of Soffer comes off the cusp of Chicago Med’s Colin Donnell appearing on the last two shows of FBI: International, in Season 3.
He played an NSA liaison, and viewers began to buzz over the idea that he would take over for Kleintank, but it looks as if Soffer will be the one to take the Fly Team’s reigns.
FBI International: There’s Been A Lot Of Changes
On top of Soffer entering the FBI: International equation, and Kleintank exiting, there have been other changes to the cast recently. Special Agent Jamie Kellett, played by Heida Reed, left the show during Season 3’s premiere, and Amanda Tate (Christina Wolfe) entered the canvas as an intel analyst.
Despite these changes, the FBI spinoff continues to grow strong, as the series heads into its fourth season, set to begin sometime this fall on CBS.
There are no more details on the character Soffer will play, so fans will need to stay tuned to this site as information trickles down the pipe.
