In tonight’s Chicago PD episode, Gloria Perez was back on the scene. Torres suspected that she’s trying to take over her late husband’s drug trade. However, the cops will have a hard time arresting her or even making a case against her. She was once a criminal informant.
She was Torres’s informant. He crossed the line when he slept with her. It wasn’t just a one time thing. They had a full-on affair and he helped her to kill her husband. Torres has crossed so many lines for Gloria that he could face possible jail time if it ever got out how much he did for her.
They both knew each other’s dirty secrets. Torres could go to church all he liked. It wouldn’t change a thing or give him absolution. He helped Gloria get away with a crime.
He regretted it and now he doesn’t know how to tell Voight. The same Voight heard about the new player that took over from Gloria’s husband. He took a murder that happened in that area. He told his team that they cleared that neighborhood once and they could do it again. He had no idea about Gloria. Torres never told him and the only one that does know about the affair was Burgess.
Burgess sat on the information. It’s too late to come forward. She will also lose her position if the truth gets out because she covered up the crime and so she told him back then to end it.
She warned Torres that Gloria would bring him down. He hadn’t listened when he should have. Now, they suspected Gloria was taking over the neighborhood. Burgess wanted to investigate her. Torres said he’d talk to Gloria first. He found where Gloria was living now. He did that when he found out the name she was living under. She now goes by Vivian Salazar.
Gloria seemed happy with her new life. She was taking college courses. She was finding out who she was as a person. She was with her ex since she was a teenager and so she missed out on a lot.
She was now trying to make up for it. Or at least that’s how it appeared to Torres. Torres thought Gloria had left that life behind her. He later told Burgess that Gloria couldn’t be the new drug lord. He said she was in the clear and there was nothing to connect her to the new crime wave happening in that neighborhood.
Felipe Roca was killed for trying to sell drugs behind the new drug lord’s back. He was killed in a drive by. The cops quickly identified Jose Canto as the killer. Canto stole the car he used in the drive by from the airport and the cops have the security footage showing he had the murder weapon on him. They had a strong case against Canto. They went and arrested him. It all seemed fine until Canto began having seizures. There was even foam that was coming out of his mouth. He later died at the hospital.
Canto was poisoned. He had to have been poisoned six hours before his death. It was a brutal death. His killer did not care about him in the slightest and no one knew how he got connected to gangs. He was a straight A student. He was going to college when suddenly he dropped out six months ago.
He started a new job six months ago as well. He told his sister that he had a great job with benefits. He instead went to work for a gang. He didn’t have a wrap sheet. He’s never been in trouble or questioned by the police. And after six months at this new job, he was acting as a hitman.
Intelligence continued investigating. They thought Hector Gazano had taken over that neighborhood. It was relief for Torres and Burgess. They thought maybe they were wrong to suspect Gloria.
They instead focused on Gazano. The man owns a successful Mexican restaurant. The cops surveilled the place. Ruzek was feeling hungry. He and Burgess went inside to grab something to eat. They were enjoying the food when Torres called Burgess. He told her to get out of there. He saw Gloria go into the restaurant. Gloria knew Gazano.
They went to the same high school back in same town back in Mexico. They seemed to have stayed in touch. Gloria knew the faces of pretty much everyone in Intelligence. The one person she hadn’t met was Cook.
Cook went in undercover at the restaurant. She acted as a server. She noticed that a lot of buckets were going in and out of the restaurant. She also caught Gloria speaking with the Campo Cartel. They weren’t there for Gazano. Gazano answered to Gloria. Gloria really was running the whole business and now she’s in charge of the drug trade.
Torres couldn’t be the one to bring her down. She has too much on him. He couldn’t see a way out of that. It was Burgess that came up with a plan of action. She told Torres that if they make such an airtight case against Gloria that it wouldn’t matter what she said. Nor what she had on them. Gloria had way more enemies than just the cops.
She froze out all of her husband’s people. There was one that came to the restaurant. He pulled a gun on Gloria. Cook saved her life and she also won Gloria’s respect.
Cook was called in to assist with a drug buy. She’s never been undercover before. She made a mistake with a slip of the tongue. She told Gloria that she knows she never takes the same route twice.
Gloria realized then that Gloria was a cop. Torres tried to get Cook out of there, but Gloria abducted the officer and there’s no telling where she is now.
THE END!
