'Chicago PD' Season 12, Episode 2, Spoilers: The Hunt Is On For Sniper

After Chicago PD’s Season 12 premiere, fans are buzzing with questions. Especially because Emily Martel (Victoria Cartagena) was shot within the closing moments of the first episode of the season.

Sure, she was a “new” character to Chicago PD viewers, but she had quite the history with Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger). This isn’t something that he’ll fluff off, and it may trigger a sequence of storylines for the rest of the season. It looks as if this shooting could affect Ruzek moving forward.

So, what happens next?

Chicago PD, Season 12, Episode 2 is titled, ‘Blue Bleeds Blue’ and will air on Wednesday, October 2 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. Spoilers for the show reveal, “After a tragedy strikes Intelligence, the unit must preserve during an adrenalized manhunt across the city”.

Looks like the search is on for Martel’s shooter, but will they be able to find the culprit? Could any more lives get lost in the process?

Chicago PD Season 12, Episode 2, Spoilers: What Fans Should Expect Moving Forward

There is a lot to unpack from the premiere and the anticipation of “what’s next” this season. First things first, will Martel end up being okay, or is she a goner?

Then there’s the fact that Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) was notably absent from the premiere. Ruzek mentioned being on a call with her and was “thinking” about coming home early; however, when will she return?

Her hiatus is temporary, but it seems to tease that someone on the unit could get promoted in Season 12. During the premiere, Martel told Ruzek to encourage Burgess to stay at the conference as this would give her an advantage with CPD.

During a September 18 interview with TV Insider, showrunner Gwen Sigan stated that ‘someone’ in the unit will get promoted, and it’s a person who’s ‘wanted it’ for a while.

Plus, with Burgess and Ruzek getting engaged in Chicago PD Season 11, Sigan also confirmed a ‘possibility’ of a wedding, telling TV Line this in May, adding she’s ‘excited’ about ‘figuring’ it all out.
