In tonight’s Dancing With The Stars episode, it was Hair Metal Night. The 80s and early 90s rock stars were known for hypnotizing people with their hair. It seemed only fair that this season castmates should also get the chance. Gene Simmons from KISS had even come out tonight to be a guest judge. Tonight was a double elimination. The cast had to bring tonight or risk going home.
Up first was Danny Amendola with his partner, Whitney. They danced the pasa doble. They danced it to Jon Bon Jovi. Danny’s last performance earned him his highest score yet and he wanted to come back even stronger tonight. He wanted a ten.
Danny certainly looked like a rock star with his mohawk. Whitney also looked amazing. Their performance was a great first of the night only it lacked the artistry the judges were looking for. They still delivered the medicine with a spoon full of sugar. They told Danny where he was amazing before they told him what he still needed to work on. They received a score of thirty. Their total was sixty from both nights. Thank you Gene for giving him a nine. And up next was Reginald VelJohnson with his partner Emma.
Their last performance landed them at the bottom of the board. One upside was that Reginald did make Carrie-Ann cry because she was just so happy for him. She wasn’t happy enough to give him anything higher than a five, but she was happy for him. She rooted for him tonight. Reginald had a problem with his knee. He had surgery on it before and it was acting up this week. He still went on to perform the cha cha with Emma with such diligence. He wasn’t really a dancer. Which was very clear tonight.
Reginald walked. He didn’t dance. He also nearly dropped Emma when she dipped. People still love Reginald because he’s a fixture in a lot of childhoods. Dancing just wasn’t his thing. The pair got a score of twenty-one. Their score for both nights was forty-two. Next up was Chandler Kinney with her partner Brandon. They were given the Jive. The Jive kinda goes against the heavy metal they were celebrating this week. They had to get creative. Brandon also had to get Chandler’s rock side out.
She was young. She was still a good kid. She had to bring out her rebel side because they were dancing to Twister Sister. She and Brandon were so great tonight. They received full praise from the judges. Not just the half praise. The full praise. The judges said she was one of if not the best dancer this season. She gets better with each dance. She got a score of thirty-three tonight. She has an overall score of sixty-nine this week. Next up was Brooks Nadar with her partner Gleb. These two heavily disagreed with the judges about their last performance.
They even disagreed with the scores. Gleb had a full-on fit backstage. Some of it came up when he heard their score. Brooke was just focusing on one performance at time. They had the cha cha tonight. They were dancing to Poison. Brooke funnily enough knew Bret Michaels. She was friends with his daughter. They got full approval from Bret before their performance. They dedicated their cha cha to him. Brooke and Gleb focused on the steps rather than the story and it improved their routine oh so much.
The judges were loving the improvement. Their score tonight was thirty-four. They had the first ten of the night. Thanks Gene! It brings their full score to sixty-two. Next up was Stephen Nedoroscik. He was towards the bottom. He had to work on timing. He was a gymnast and, because he was on the men’s team, he wasn’t used to performing to music. He has to work on his musicality. The women gymnasts knew rhythm and grace. The men were missing out by not having the same for their full team.
Stephen and Rylee did a little better tonight with a score of thirty-two. Their full total is sixty-two. Next up was Dwight Howard with his partner Daniella. They were second to last for their last performance. Dwight was a really tall guy. It was hard for him to glide. He also couldn’t move smoothly with his much shorter partner. No offense, Daniella. It just means she has to get creative to hide the height difference and she did that tonight with the pasa doble. This dance was his best performance to date.
Dwight and Daniella have a score of twenty-eight tonight. They have a full score of fifty-two. Next up was Eric Roberts. He had a great time last performance. He went into tonight remembering and loving the 80s. Eric was in a major accident in ’91. He was in a coma for two weeks. He hated life. He wanted to die. The 90s kicked off with him in a depression. He can look back at 80s with fondness. Tonight they danced the pasa doble. Eric always dances with such heart. And tonight wasn’t his night.
Eric’s score tonight was twenty-two. Their score for both nights was forty-six. Next up was Ilona Maher with her partner Alan. They have jive tonight. It was upbeat. It was fast. Ilona likened it to rugby. She and Alan had such fun with this one. They had a jump in there tonight that probably hurts the knees like nothing else and she just moved right through it. They got a score of twenty-six tonight because it was a little off. The judges felt she could come back stronger from this. Their full score was fifty-six.
Next up was Jenn Tran with her partner Sasha. They were climbing up the board. Their last performance was great and it earned them their first eight in the competition. They had the pasa doble tonight. Jenn got to let out her wilder side. She and Sasha had great fun tonight. The only one who didn’t understand how great it was turned out to be Gene. Yeah, Gene gave them a seven. The others all gave them an eight. They had a score of thirty-one tonight. They had a full score of sixty-two and so what the hell Gene?! And next up was Phaedra Parks with her partner Val.
They had the pasa doble as well. They danced to “You Give Love A Bad Name”. Phaedra felt that one because she went through an ugly divorce. She also wasn’t worried about tonight. She’s been consistently good. She literally told the double eliminees tonight goodbye before she had even danced. She was that confident. She shouldn’t have been and she was. Carrie-Ann came out of the gate with criticism. She told Phaedra she danced in a square. She wasn’t taking up the whole floor. She and Val got a score of twenty-six tonight. They had a full score of thirty-six.
Gene gave Phaedra a five. He didn’t even give her a seven like everyone else did. What was up with Gene? Also, why did it only come out with women of color? The only woman of color he didn’t downvote was Chandler. Next up was Joey Graziadei with his partner Jenna. They had the tango. Their tango was probably the best Derek has ever seen from a male celebrity ever. Joey was a drummer. He kept it up into adult. It helped him stay on beat tonight. Joey got all nines from the judges tonight. He had a score of thirty-six tonight. He has a full score of seventy.
And sadly Reginald & Emma and Eric & Britt were doubly eliminated tonight.
THE END!
