Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, January 1, reveals that Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) stirred up some questions when she skipped the Champagne during her private celebration with Abe Carver (James Reynolds).
Paulina said she’d been having some strange symptoms and that she was taking Kayla Johnson’s (Mary Beth Evans) recommendation to abstain from alcohol, but she wanted to focus on having a fun New Year’s Eve.
Although Paulina downplayed her health issues, Abe finally got her to admit her tests pointed to hypothyroidism and that she had a lump in her neck.
Paulina mentioned having a biopsy done just in case it was cancer, but she became agitated and didn’t want Abe to feel sorry for her. In fact, Paulina tried to get Abe to leave since she couldn’t handle her husband looking at her like an acquaintance right now.
Abe refused to let the woman he loved go through this alone, so Paulina was touched over the love declaration and accepted Abe’s kiss.
Outside The Bistro, a cop showed up and found Tate Black (Jamie Martin Mann) crouched down next to unresponsive Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis).
Tate insisted he didn’t know what Holly took and used his shoe to cover the pill bag on the ground. When the officer wasn’t looking, Tate slipped the baggie into the pocket of his jacket.
Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) found Tate and quizzed him about what happened, so Tate showed him Holly’s drug bag right as the cop walked over. The officer pushed Tate to hand over the rest of the pills, so he surrendered them.
At the Salem PD on Monday’s Days episode, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) and Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) were frustrated over all the overdose calls they’d been getting. When they received a call about yet another one, Harris and Rafe went down to The Bistro to investigate.
Meanwhile, paramedics tended to Holly and got her to the hospital, where she was taken to the trauma room.
Once Rafe realized Holly was the victim, he called Nicole DiMera (Arianne Zucker) to offer some terrifying updates.
At the DiMera mansion on Monday’s DOOL show, Nicole and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) made love before discussing Holly’s curfew being 2:00 a.m.
Although Nicole wanted to wait up for Holly and see how her night went, she got Rafe’s horrible phone call about Holly’s overdose soon after.
At the hospital, Tate was an emotional wreck. Brady pushed Tate to tell him exactly what happened, so Tate recapped how Holly offered him drugs and stormed off to the ladies’ room when he turned her down.
Tate said he went looking for Holly later and found her unresponsive outside. Brady seemed worried about how things would turn out for Tate, who assumed he was in big trouble.
Theresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien) arrived with Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson), who whispered to Theresa and clearly thought Tate had been using, too.
However, Theresa snapped at Alex since she’d taught her son to say no to drugs and felt she knew him better than Alex did. Since this was a family matter, Theresa pushed Alex to go home and let her handle things with Brady.
Next on Monday’s Days episode, Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) worked on Holly and was forced to do chest compressions as her vitals dropped.
The crash cart was brought in so they could shock Holly’s heart, so Nicole walked in on a horrifying scene and had to be led out of the room.
Tripp was able to stabilize Holly, but he still had bad news for Nicole since Holly was on a ventilator and had slipped into a coma. Nicole returned to Holly’s bedside and cried as she sang her a heartbreaking lullaby.
Back with Harris, he put Ava and Stefan through a grilling session, but they insisted they didn’t see anything drug-related happening at The Bistro.
Once Stefan and Ava were inside alone, a call came in from Statesville. Since it was too late for Gabi Hernandez DiMera (last played by Camila Banus) to be reaching out, Stefan assumed Clyde Weston (James Read) was one the one calling his phone.
On Monday’s Days episode, Rafe also headed to the hospital, where he got more information from Tripp.
After approaching Tripp, Brady and Theresa, Rafe read a statement explaining Tate’s rights since he was a minor and offered him a lawyer.
Brady insisted Tate didn’t need one since he’d done nothing wrong. When Rafe asked if Tate was willing to keep talking to him, Tate confirmed that he was.
As Tate said the pills belonged to Holly, raging EJ showed up and immediately shut down that idea since he didn’t believe his stepdaughter was into drugs.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say EJ will make life difficult for Tate in the coming episodes, so stay tuned to DOOL! CDL will have other fantastic Days of Our Lives spoilers, updates and news to read up on, so check back often.
