Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, January 2, reveals that EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) refused to believe Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) was the one who brought the drug bag to the party, so he warned that Tate Black (Jamie Martin Mann) was guilty of attempted manslaughter and said he was going down.
Theresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien) and Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) rushed to Tate’s defense, but EJ trashed them too over their drug use and bad influence.
Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) insisted there wasn’t enough evidence to arrest Tate yet, so Brady finally piped up that his son was covering for him and claimed the drugs were his.
After Brady pushed Rafe to arrest him, EJ got updates on there being no change in Holly’s condition. Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) was wrapping up his shift, but he said EJ could be with Nicole DiMera (Arianne Zucker) by Holly’s bedside in the ICU.
Rafe urged EJ to go support his family and placed Brady under arrest once the DA stepped away. Tate tried to protest, but Theresa shushed him and took her son back to the townhouse, where John was busy celebrating New Year’s Eve with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).
John woke up after falling asleep too early for the countdown and admitted he hadn’t been sleeping well.
John also told Marlena about Konstantin Meleounis (John Kapelos) conning Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers), but he was hopeful about helping Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) do enough to get Konstantin out of town.
On Tuesday’s Days episode, Marlena was curious about the details of how John pulled that off, but John avoided spilling too much.
After Theresa brought Tate in, Marlena and John learned about Holly’s overdose and how Brady piped up to say the drugs were his.
Tate turned down the glass of warm milk that Marlena offered to relax and said he just wanted to get some rest.
At the Salem PD on Tuesday’s DOOL show, Rafe confronted Brady about his lies in the interrogation room.
Rafe knew Brady was just covering for Tate, so he hadn’t made anything official yet and gave Brady a chance to back out of the confession.
It was only going to make things worse for Tate when Brady’s fingerprints weren’t on the bag. John came down to the station and spoke with Rafe privately about getting Brady a lawyer, but Rafe said it wasn’t John’s call.
Back at the townhouse, Theresa went to check on Tate and realized he was missing, so she sounded the alarm to Marlena.
After Rafe rejoined Brady in the interrogation room, Tate barged in soon after. Since Tate couldn’t let Brady take the fall, he told Rafe to arrest him instead if he had to arrest someone.
At The Bistro on Tuesday’s Days episode, Stefan hung up from a phone call with Clyde Weston (James Read) and informed Ava that the bad batch that kids had been overdosing on came from the last shipment.
Clyde wanted it all off the streets, so Ava resolved to call in a favor with the Vitali family. Stefan was concerned about Ava getting tangled back up in that life since she walked away for a reason, but Ava didn’t think they had any choice.
At one point, Stefan hugged Ava and offered some comfort. Ava called someone named Dom and said she owed him one, so Stefan remained worried about what the guy would want when it was time to collect on that favor.
Tripp eventually arrived and asked to speak with Ava alone. That led to Tripp running down the list of all Ava’s suspicious behavior and begging her to tell him she wasn’t involved in all the drug chaos.
Ava acted offended and tried to explain away some of her bizarre moves – like dumping Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) out of nowhere because he supposedly cheated. Tripp still worried Ava was in over her head and pushed for honesty.
Outside on Tuesday’s Days episode, EJ showed up to corner Stefan and raged at him for causing Holly’s life-threatening mess.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Stefan and EJ are gearing up for fierce faceoff, so stay tuned for news on all the erupting hostility. CDL’s where you want to be for terrific Days of Our Lives spoilers, updates and news, so stop by frequently for more DOOL details.
