Days of Our Lives Recap: Tuesday, January 23 – Sarah Rescues Paulina – Gabi’s Affair Reaction – Ava & Stephanie Face Off

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, January 23, reveals that Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) chatted with Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) ahead of her extra shift at the hospital since they’d been short-staffed.

Xander assured Sarah that he’d handle everything with Victoria Horton-Cook and mentioned stopping by The Spectator to see how things were going at the office.

After reflecting on some of the shady moves he made in the past, Xander insisted he was a legitimate businessman now and thanked Sarah for believing in him. Sarah and Xander seemed to be longing for each other as Sarah headed off to work.

At the hospital on Tuesday’s Days episode, Paulina Price (Jackee Harry) processed her biopsy results after meeting with Dr. Siegel off-screen. Dr. Siegel had been direct and informative, but she hadn’t been very compassionate.

Paulina talked about how scared she previously was to face a cancer diagnosis, but she claimed to have found strength now that she actually had it.

Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) tried to be there for Paulina, but they could tell Paulina was mostly putting on a brave face.

After Chanel called Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) to fill him in, she said she needed him and hoped they could meet up. Chanel also spoke with Sarah about Paulina’s thyroid cancer and asked if Sarah would give her mom some reassurance.

Sarah looked over Paulina’s chart and gave Paulina a more compassionate approach along with additional details, so Paulina asked if Sarah could be her doctor.

Sarah suggested Paulina should stick with a specialist, but she was happy to offer support anytime.

Next on Tuesday’s DOOL show, Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) waved to some patrons as they left The Bistro, which had a dismal lunch “crowd” with only three people.

The restaurant took a major hit with tons of canceled reservations after the raid, so Ava said she called Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) for PR help.

Stephanie arrived and offered some strategies to improve The Bistro’s image, including using her partnership with The Spectator in Ava and Stefan’s favor.

Stefan also thought he should talk to Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn), so he announced his plans to see Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) at Statesville and then visit Chad at the office.

On Stefan’s way out, he gave Ava a kiss and caught Stephanie off guard once she realized they were a thing.

At The Spectator, Xander stopped by with Victoria in her baby carrier and got updates from Chad as well as Everett Lynch (Blake Berris).

Xander disapproved of Everett and Chad’s idea of pumping money into another charitable event so soon. Everett’s substantial petty cash fund also stirred up some drama with Xander.

Once Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) sauntered in, he got plenty of praise for his recent Martin Luther King Jr. Day article and offered a blind item idea.

Xander praised Leo for actually helping them make money, so Leo appreciated the ego boost.

Stefan interrupted and spoke to Chad in private about keeping The Bistro out of the raid story. Since there was no real proof against them, Stefan didn’t think it was fair.

After Stefan brought up the time Chad was wrongfully accused of being the necktie killer, he acted like his brother should understand.

Chad eventually returned to the others and announced that they’d be keeping any mention of The Bistro and the overdose on the loading dock out of the story, so Everett lashed out.

Despite Everett’s protests, Chad made it clear that he was in charge and that he got the final say.

At The Bistro again on Tuesday’s Days episode, Ava fished for answers about Stephanie’s personal life until Stephanie finally wondered what she was getting at.

That led to Ava mentioning Stephanie’s night with Harris Michaels (Steve Burton), but Stephanie said she was drunk and that nothing beyond the kiss she instigated happened.

Ava suggested maybe it was because Stephanie wasn’t that great of a kisser, but Stephanie countered that maybe Harris was just a good guy.

After Ava acknowledged that Harris was indeed a good guy, she insisted he wasn’t the right guy for her.

Ava acted like she’d been going behind Harris’ back with Stefan anyway and gave Stephanie her permission if she wanted to go after Harris for herself. Stephanie said she didn’t need Ava’s permission, but she also had no romantic interest in Harris.

Although Stephanie pointed out that Ava was having an affair with a married man, she felt that was none of her business and suggested they should get back to PR strategies.

Ava liked everything Stephanie came up with on Tuesday’s Days episode and shook on the deal just as Stefan returned with good news about Chad’s cooperation.

Once Stephanie left, Stefan told Ava that Gabi was back in her cell and keeping her ears open for anything they might need to know.

Stefan also revealed that he told Gabi about their fake affair, so Ava asked how that went.

Although Gabi wasn’t happy about it, Stefan said his wife admitted it was a good cover and was OK with it as long as it didn’t go too far. Gabi didn’t trust Ava, but Stefan smiled over her trusting him.

As Stefan popped open a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate Chad’s help, Ava checked her voicemail and realized Rafe wanted to see them at the Salem PD today.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say Rafe will have some tough questions for Ava and Stefan soon, so stay tuned!
