Days of Our Lives Recap: Wednesday, February 21 – Lucas’ Firefighter Surprise – 2 Horton Miracles

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, February 21, reveals that Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) brought Thomas DiMera (Cary Christopher) to The Spectator office since he thought he left his remote control car there. Chad hoped so since it might be the only toy that survived the fire.

While Thomas was looking in the back, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) gave Chad a pep talk.

Chad felt guilty for causing the blaze by approving the story about Clyde Weston (James Read), but Leo insisted Chad couldn’t have known and praised him as a good father.

Thomas didn’t find his remote control car, but he was thrilled to find what appeared to be a handheld gaming system instead.

Since Thomas had a tooth loose, he got “the tooth fairy” to pay him in advance and thanked Leo for the five-dollar bill.

Since Thomas wanted to go be with the family at the damaged house, Chad agreed he could come. Leo asked if he could tag along since he hoped to learn the history of the Hortons.

At the pub on Wednesday’s Days episode, John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) joined Kate Roberts Brady (Lauren Koslow) and Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) as they all discussed the fire.

Marlena and John mentioned that they invited Abe Carver (James Reynolds) to join them at the Horton house today, but he couldn’t come since Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) had a heart attack and was in the CCU.

Meanwhile, Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes), Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) and Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) were all distraught at the extent of the damage.

The whole Horton house looked burnt to a crisp, but there were a couple of little miracles since Alice Horton’s (Frances Reid) chair didn’t have a mark on it and the ornaments were fine in the basement.

A firefighter spoke to Maggie, Julie and Doug, so they were all taken aback when he removed his mask.

Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) took off his disguise and basically admitted he couldn’t stay away from his family at a time like this.

Although Lucas promised that he hadn’t escaped, he made it clear that he’d be in danger if anyone knew he was there. Lucas later admitted Clyde was the reason for the peril.

Thomas greeted Uncle Lucas when he walked in, but Chad quickly sent them both upstairs since it wasn’t wise for Leo to see Lucas there.

After Chad mentioned to Julie that Leo wanted to hear about the Horton family history, she told stories along with Doug and Maggie.

Doug also sang Alice and Tom Horton’s (Macdonald Carey) old song, which was called “Always.”

Leo was amazed over all the great content and got Julie’s blessing to write a story about the Hortons – just as long as Chad read and approved it first.

Once Leo made it back to The Spectator on Wednesday’s Days episode, he wrote a lovely piece about the arsonist not defeating the Horton spirit since the home was still full of love.

Back at the Horton house, Roman and Kate stopped by with doughnuts as they offered their support. John and Marlena had a box of doughnuts as well as they reflected on days gone by.

Marlena had a flashback of the first time she entered the Horton family home – and there were other various Horton-related memories throughout the episode, too.

Days also offered some faux flashbacks of Young Tom (Zach Chyz) and Young Alice (Sydney K. Smith) as they went on picnics in the 1930s and built their family together.

At one point, Alice showed off the first Horton ornaments and suggested a tradition to add more for their grandchildren and great-grandchildren someday.

Tom and Alice kept admiring a house across from their favorite picnic spot, but times were tough.

It was hard for Alice and Tom to afford more than their little apartment, but Tom eventually got the downpayment from his generous father and surprised Alice with the key to their new place.

After carrying Alice inside, Tom welcomed her home. Alice suggested it was just a house, but that it’d be a home with their love and ultimately nuzzled foreheads with Tom in a sweet moment.

Back in the present, Thomas poked around the fireplace until a vintage box dropped down. It was a time capsule created by Alice in 1966 that was to be opened in 2016 or later.

Although the box proved difficult to get inside, John refused to give up and suggested a hammer.

However, DOOL fans were left in the dark on what was inside the time capsule – at least for now!

Days of Our Lives spoilers say that mystery could still unravel eventually, so stay tuned for updates on any stunning news that might tie in with the discovery.
