Days of Our Lives Recap: Wednesday, January 31 – Xander Accuses EJ – Paulina Demands Truth – Johnny Rejects DiMera Curse

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 31, reveals that Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) paid Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) a visit at the Horton house, where Chad was having a challenging morning with the kids.

Johnny mentioned that he was marrying Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) on Valentine’s Day, so Chad said he’d clear his schedule.

After Johnny admitted he hoped Chad would do more than just attend, he asked Chad to be his best man.

Chad hesitated before pointing out that attending and actually standing up for Johnny were two very different things.

Serving as best man would be like giving his blessing – and Chad didn’t want to do that since he didn’t support bringing another innocent woman into the DiMera family.

Although Chad ran down the list of all the horrible things that had happened, Johnny didn’t believe the DiMeras were cursed and argued that he wasn’t even involved in the family business.

Johnny thought this was more about Chad having a morning where he missed Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller), so Chad said he missed her every second of every day.

Since Johnny refused to lose Chanel again, Chad urged him to marry her in Italy, stay there and be happy.

Johnny didn’t want to take Chanel away from Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) when she just found out her mom had cancer and refused to run away like when he was a kid.

Chad ultimately relented on being Johnny’s best man, but he admitted that he would’ve ran for the hills with Abigail and fought to protect her if he had it all to do over again.

In the town square on Wednesday’s Days episode, Chanel plastered on a fake smile and went along with all Paulina’s ugly wedding suggestions, but Paulina called her out on humoring her because of her cancer.

Chanel finally got honest about not liking what Paulina had picked out, so Paulina pretended to get choked and pulled a “gotcha” that resulted in Chanel laughing.

Johnny came along and hinted to Chanel about Chad’s concerns, but Chanel knew Johnny was his own man and reassured him about their imminent marriage.

At the Salem PD, Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) and Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) celebrated a drug bust that went well, but Jada also addressed Harris kissing Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) and getting slapped recently.

On Wednesday’s Days episode, Jada didn’t understand what Harris was thinking and wondered if pursuing Ava was really worth the risk.

Harris avoided the discussion by offering to take Jada and a couple other cops out to breakfast, but it was Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) who bought their meal at the pub.

While Roman and Harris privately discussed the hidden Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) situation, Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) ran into Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) while they were both out for a run.

That led to Alex bringing up Brady’s kiss with Theresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien) and how he never really got an apology from Brady over that.

Brady didn’t feel he owed Alex one since Theresa kissed him – not the other way around.

After Brady made it clear that he’d never take advantage of someone in such a vulnerable headspace, he assured Alex that the kiss meant nothing.

When Alex seemed skeptical on Wednesday’s DOOL show, Brady reiterated that the kiss was meaningless.

That said, Brady also warned Alex to understand that he was going to be in Theresa’s life as the father of her child and would check up on her.

Alex eventually softened and asked Brady about his brief marriage to Theresa, so Brady seemed concerned and wondered if Alex was thinking of asking Theresa to marry him.

Alex claimed that was a long way off, so Brady thought the delay was good news and pushed Alex to take things slow if he wanted his relationship with Theresa to last.

At the DiMera mansion on Wednesday’s Days episode, Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) arrived looking for EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and found Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) instead.

That led to Xander opening up about the mysterious call he received, which brought a distorted seemingly male voice that wanted him to eliminate someone.

The person said they’d be in touch before hanging up, so Xander wished they’d call back so he could shut down the idea completely.

Stefan resented the fact that Xander was blaming someone in the DiMera clan for the phone call when it just as easily could’ve been someone on the Kiriakis side.

Although Stefan doubted EJ was the one who reached out, Xander seemed convinced and refused to end up behind bars or in a casket now that he had Victoria Horton-Cook to raise.

Xander bickered with Stefan before urging him to tell EJ to “go to hell” and added Stefan could go there, too – though he felt that’s where the DiMeras were already headed eventually.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say there’s much more to the story when it comes to Xander’s strange phone call, so stay tuned for updates on all the mayhem.
