Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that a lot of losses have been affecting the soap community in recent months. Sadly, there’s another one to add to the list now that Bill Hayes (Doug Williams) has passed away at the age of 98.
Hayes was an incredible actor who was full of life and talent up to the very end. There was a special vibrant quality to Hayes’ onscreen presence that fans will never forget!
Back in February 1970, Hayes made his debut as a con man named Brent Douglas aka Doug Williams.
Of course, that character grew into a much deeper one who’d become a huge part of the DOOL canvas.
Many Days viewers know Hayes was married to Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) both on-screen and off. After their characters were paired up on the show, love bloomed in real life, too.
It’s been confirmed that Bill Hayes passed away on January 12, so this is certainly tough news for his wife, family and all the fans who adored him.
Days Executive Producer Ken Corday released a statement after he received updates on Hayes’ demise, so let’s look at what he had to say.
“I have known Bill for most of my life and he embodied the heart and soul of Days of our Lives.
Although we are grieving and will miss him, Bill’s indelible legacy will live on in our hearts and the stories we tell, both on and off the screen.”
On social media, fans have been sharing heartfelt words of their own and reflecting on Hayes’ amazing career in show business.
Hayes spent decades entertaining us all, so it’s hard to say goodbye!
Nevertheless, Hayes was a very beloved performer – as evidenced by the memories that are being shared and favorite scenes that are being remembered.
Our hearts go out to Susan Seaforth Hayes along with the rest of Bill Hayes’ loved ones during this difficult time.
