Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) and Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) will spend some time celebrating their love. That’s something Julie and Doug obviously do pretty often, but it’ll be special this time around due to what was happening behind the scenes.
Bill Hayes passed away in January, but he was still filming right up until December 13, 2023.
That’s when Bill taped what would become his final appearance on Days – and it’s set to air on July 11, which also happens to be Susan Seaforth Hayes’ birthday.
Susan opened up about what that experience was like back when her husband’s obituary was published, so let’s look at what she had to say.
“The last scene I got to play with him is about how much we love each other,” Susan told The New York Times in a phone interview.
Susan added that she was “blessed with the opportunity to hover over the words ‘Have I ever told you how much I love you?’ And Doug answers, ‘No, you never did.’”
It turns out that was something Susan and Bill used to say to each other in real life, so they were able to incorporate it into their final scene together as Julie and Doug.
That’s a sweet story that’ll no doubt make things even more emotional for Days viewers!
After this July 11 love fest, it’ll take some time before Doug actually passes away on the show.
There’ll inevitably be more excuses where Doug’s in the other room or off doing other things to explain away his absence in the months ahead.
However, Days has already filmed a big memorial for Doug and sendoff for Bill Hayes that are coming up on-screen later this year.
