Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, July 5, reveals that Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) gave Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) updates on Robert “Bobby” Stein aka Everett Lynch’s (Blake Berris) claim that he could help solve a murder.
Rafe thought Bobby was just manipulating Jada and worried about how mentally unstable her ex was, but Jada stood her ground on going back for more info – and she insisted on doing it alone.
In the town square, Connie Vilinski (Julie Dove) approached Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) and apologized for blaming her for Li Shin’s (Remington Hoffman) demise before since it wasn’t Melinda’s fault.
At the DiMera mansion on Friday’s Days episode, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) demanded answers from Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) about where Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Cherie Jimenez) was.
EJ needed Gabi for his press conference and was frustrated since she wasn’t back from her trip to Arizona yet. Once Gabi returned and found Stefan fighting with EJ, she agreed to attend the press conference since Stefan wanted to throw his brother a bone.
After EJ left on Friday’s DOOL show, Gabi pressured Stefan into blabbing about “Jude DiMera” aka Jude Brady’s (Oliver McLarty) paternity and his blackmail material.
Although Gabi insisted they had to tell Eric the truth about his son, Stefan begged her not to rock the boat again. Gabi seemingly decided Stefan was right and embraced him, but she looked pensive over his shoulder.
Back in the town square, EJ was willing to surrender control of his shares to convince Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) to make Melinda her legal counsel at DiMera Enterprises.
Kristen took the deal, but she remained curious about why EJ was doing all this. Melinda signed the paperwork, but she would only tell Kristen that EJ was doing what was best for him.
At The Spectator on Friday’s Days episode, Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) told Nicole DiMera (Arianne Zucker) that he was taking a photography job at a prestigious magazine in Paris – and he was leaving today.
Eric once again explained why he needed a clean break and thought it was best if he didn’t see Jude before he left. Nicole also mentioned that EJ knew about her drunkenly kissing him, so Eric was surprised and didn’t know what he’d do in EJ’s situation.
Nicole ultimately got emotional and didn’t want to say goodbye, so Eric agreed they wouldn’t actually say it. As Eric offered a sad smile and headed for the doorway, Nicole gave a little wave and cried as she watched him go.
Eric also broke the Paris news to Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) after her visit to Bobby and said Nicole would always have a piece of his heart.
Once Jada ended up back in Bobby’s Bayview room, he played games with her and tried to bargain for his release. Jada threatened to leave if Bobby didn’t come clean about what he knew, so he finally admitted this was about Li’s case.
Back in the town square, Rafe approached Gabi as she arrived with Stefan and said he was there to support her at that press conference. Connie walked over to greet Gabi and claimed she was glad about her freedom.
Now that the real killer had been caught according to Connie, she suggested Li could rest in peace. Gabi thought it was nice of Connie to walk over and make those comments, but Rafe thought the interaction seemed strange.
Afterward on Friday’s Days episode, Connie returned to the scene of the crime and flashed back to stabbing Li from behind, so she was revealed as his real killer.
Nicole showed up in the town square to cover the press conference for The Spectator. When Nicole overheard Melinda talking to EJ and got suspicious, EJ acted like he just wanted to tell her about Melinda’s new job himself.
Although Nicole didn’t get why Kristen would hire Melinda, EJ lied that perhaps she did it just to spite him.
Once the press conference got underway, EJ made a speech about his role in getting justice since Gabi was free and Li’s case had supposedly been truly solved.
When it was Gabi’s turn to make a statement, she thanked her friends, family and especially Stefan.
Gabi only reluctantly thanked EJ toward the very end – and she pointed out that he was the one who put her in prison in the first place due to flimsy evidence.
However, Gabi explained that EJ freed her out of love for Nicole and his desperate attempt to hang onto her.
Nicole was confused, but Gabi insisted it was because Nicole was still in love with Eric – and Eric was the father of her baby!
