Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveals that Head Writer Ron Carlivati was anxiously awaiting the episode that aired on Friday, May 31. That’s because it marked the return of Carlivati’s own writing material, which means the strike writers’ content will officially become a thing of the past.
Although Carlivati and his team got back to work in October following the end of the Writers Guild of America strike, Days films multiple months in advance.
Carlivati’s new stuff is finally making it to the screen again – and he couldn’t be more excited about it!
In an interview with TV Insider, Ron Carlivati cleared up some misconceptions and offered some hints about what’s in store now that he’s steering the writing ship again.
For starters, Carlivati clarified that he didn’t leave any kind of guide behind for the temporary writers to follow.
Days mostly had the temp team stretch things out and keep Carlivati’s overall arcs in play as long as possible.
However, they ultimately did have to make some story decisions that Carlivati wasn’t involved in making.
“From January to May, those were not my stories. I had nothing to do with those,” Carlivati said.
Carlivati didn’t get a chance to write the beginning of the baby switch story reveal, but he did make one significant change that fans will see in his first episode back.
It turns out the strike writers were going to have Sloan Petersen-Brady (Jessica Serfaty) exit the canvas without ever having a faceoff with Nicole DiMera (Arianne Zucker)!
Carlivati admitted he thought that was “nuts,” so he rewrote it to include the Sloan and Nicole confrontation that played out on Friday, May 31.
Days spoilers say Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) will also find out he’s Jude Brady’s (Greg Vaughan) biological father in the coming episodes – and that was something Carlivati enjoyed getting to pen himself.
Of course, Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) doesn’t know he’s Victor Kiriakis’ (John Aniston) biological son yet, so Carlivati was able to take the lead on that revelation – which obviously involves Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) and Theresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien) as well.
Plus, Carlivati wrote Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) and Konstantin Meleounis’ (John Kapelos) imminent wedding blowup, so Konstantin’s downfall will be another huge moment for DOOL viewers.
The strike writers have already laid the groundwork for Gabi Hernandez DiMera (last played by Camila Banus) to get out of prison, but Ron Carlivati is taking over from here and will be at the helm once Gabi finally scores her freedom.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Cherie Jimenez is set to make her debut as Gabi recast by the end of June, so we’ll bring you more story predictions and updates on any other casting news.
