Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, December 24, reveals that Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) gave Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) updates on the latest behind-the-scenes drama at Body & Soul since she thought Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) was hooking up with a co-star.
Stephanie also admitted she shared a kiss with Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier), which left Kayla concerned about her rushing back into things with her ex.
Although Stephanie didn’t know for sure where things were headed, she downplayed the idea of a reunion with Philip and thanked Kayla for caring.
In the town square on Tuesday’s Days episode, Philip literally bumped into Alex, so they discussed Philip winning half of Titan.
Philip ultimately acknowledged that they still had Stephanie issues to address and told Alex about his kiss with her.
Although Philip claimed he was being honest in the interest of family unity, Alex assumed Philip was throwing the kiss in his face to gloat.
That said, Alex insisted it was none of his business and that Philip was free to do whatever he wanted with Stephanie.
Philip said he wasn’t dating Stephanie yet, but he clearly thought things were headed in that direction.
Alex pretended he was fine with that, but he didn’t look fine at all deep down!
Once Stephanie appeared, Philip suggested they were just talking about her. Alex decided to take off, but he wished Stephanie a merry Christmas before he left.
Afterward on Tuesday’s DOOL show, Philip wondered if Stephanie was willing to see where things led between them.
Stephanie got a little uncomfortable as Philip asked her on a New Year’s Eve date, but she ultimately accepted the offer and said that sounded great.
At the pub on Tuesday’s Days episode, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) handed over Leo Stark’s (Greg Rikaart) payment and got Steve Johnson’s (Stephen Nichols) pat on the back for finding Hattie Adams (Deidre Hall).
Rafe worried about the tension it caused with Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) and wondered whether this job was going to work out.
Steve acknowledged that the situation could lead to more problems, but he still hated to lose Rafe since he was an asset at Black Patch.
In the end, Rafe decided he loved the job and that it was important to him, so he’d just have to find a way to resolve things with Jada.
At the Salem PD, Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) got news about Rafe interfering and making it so Hattie had a chance to lawyer up before questioning.
After Paulina pushed Jada to rein her man in, Jada expressed discomfort at the idea of controlling him.
Paulina understood that, but she still felt that Jada and Rafe needed to get on the same page somehow.
Jada promised to do her best to nail down a solution and resolve the tainted cupcake case as well. but Paulina warned that she’d hated to change police commissioners again.
At the Hernandez house, Rafe and Jada exchanged apologies, so the tension between them lifted.
Although Jada now accepted that Rafe was just doing his job, he wondered how they would fix things moving forward.
Jada decided they’d just have to figure things out as they went along, so Rafe was willing to do that.
Back with Steve, he returned home to Kayla and heard about Stephanie having some romantic drama.
Kayla chose not to go into the details and just focused on the fact that Stephanie was going to be celebrating Christmas with them.
At the DiMera mansion, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) assumed Rafe was paying a visit, but Arnold Feniger (Galen Gering) poured himself a drink and admitted it was him instead.
That left EJ fuming since Arnold – who was Rafe’s doppelganger due to plastic surgery – was supposed to be playing dead in Argentina.
There was some talk about Arnold going off the rails after EJ and Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) hired him to derail Rafe and Sami Brady’s (Allison Sweeney) relationship.
However, the DiMeras decided to keep Arnold alive in case he might be useful someday.
Some Days flashbacks revealed that when Arnold was attacked in prison, the imprisoned culprits were working for the DiMeras and gave him Dr. Wilhelm Rolf’s (Richard Wharton) drug to mimic death.
Arnold was given money and sent to Argentina, but now that money had run out. That’s why Arnold was back to make a withdrawal from the bank of DiMera and offer his services.
When Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) popped up, he asked what Rafe was doing there.
Arnold questioned if he knew Johnny, but EJ insisted “Rafe” was just kidding since Rafe had always been close to his son.
Rafe played along by suggesting he was just messing with Johnny, who seemed weirded out over EJ and Rafe getting along.
Nevertheless, EJ kept up the act and barked orders to Arnold once they were alone.
Although EJ was willing to hand over one final payment, he wanted Arnold back in Argentina ASAP.
Arnold thought EJ would come around on his usefulness and decided that since the mansion was so cushy, he wanted to stay for a while.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Arnold will cause a lot more mayhem for EJ, so we’ll bring you more predictions on any tricks up his sleeve.
