Fans Petition NBC After Hints A Popular Crime Drama Will Be Axed

Season 4 of Law & Order: Organized Crime premiered on NBC on January 18, 2024, but there is currently no news of a renewal for the popular spinoff. After the spinoff quickly became a fan favorite, it seems NBC is planning to axe the series, leaving fans “crushed” by the news. However, they are now petitioning the network to renew Organized Crime for a fifth season.

Is NBC canceling Law & Order: Organized Crime?

So far, fans have been enjoying Law & Order: Organized Crime for four seasons on NBC. This is a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit spinoff that follows Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and his return to the force. However, now he is not rejoining his partner, Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay).

As noted by The Sun, the spinoff showed Elliot joining a new task force to root out powerful criminals, but, currently, it seems his emotions get in the way of his work. Season 4 of Law & Order: Organized Crime dropped on NBC on January 18, 2024, with 13 episodes. However, fans are now concerned because the series has not been officially renewed.

Fans sign petition begging NBC to renew

A new Change.org petition has attracted 2,574 signatures of the planned 5,000 at the time of writing from loyal fans who don’t want NBC to cancel Law & Order: Organized Crime. In the comments section of the petition, it is revealed how heartbroken fans will be if the show ends after season 4.

Among the comments, one wrote, “I really hope it gets renewed! I only actually watch the other two weekly because I look forward to this one!” Another noted, “It’s far superior to SVU at this point.”

Meanwhile, another commented, writing “Signed! I would be very crushed if it’s not renewed.” Moreover, another fan wrote, “Maybe Peacock will have [Organized Crime] exclusively on there! I hope somebody comes up with something to save the show!” On this note, another noted that Peacock has picked up other canceled shows before and has managed to revive them.

Law & Order: Organized Crime and showrunners
Moreover, it seems fans have good reason to be concerned over the possible cancelation of the series. The show hasn’t had the easiest production history after going through six showrunners in its short time on TV. Some didn’t even manage to stay through one whole season.

John Shiban is the showrunner for the latest season of Organized Crime, but it isn’t yet known if he will stay in the job if the series is renewed.

Meanwhile, fans of Law & Order: Organized Crime should remember that the renewal for season 4 was announced in April 2023. As we are only eight days into April 2024, fans shouldn’t give up hope that the show will return at the beginning of 2025.

For those who have yet to watch Organized Crime, all four current seasons are available on Peacock.
