In tonight’s FBI episode, a park ranger was murdered on Governor’s Island. It happened on federal land. It thereby was a federal crime. The FBI were brought in to investigate the murder of Desiree Cole. She had earlier reported spotted a man wearing a snake mask following the kids group she was in charge of.
She got the kids to safety but was later alone when the man showed up again. He killed her instantly. He might have been waiting around just to do so. There was also a chance that the killer wasn’t a man at all. Desiree assumed it was a man. The same for the other park rangers. They saw someone seemingly tall and wearing all black.
The reason the FBI stuck with an open mind was because of Desiree’s ex. She was dating Drew Ambrie until they had a nasty split. Desiree cheated on Drew and then kicked Drew out of their place. Drew also has a registered handgun. It was the same as the murder weapon. The FBI visited Drew’s new home.
They questioned her and they got the gun to run ballistics on. Drew wasn’t their shooter. Her gun wasn’t a match. She also had an alibi. She was out with a group of friends that night. And while Drew wasn’t their killer, her relationship with Desiree seemed to have upset one person in particular.
Desiree was constantly fighting bigots online. She has a truly hateful relationship with someone by the name of “Scroll Lord”. The guy’s real name was Brandon Halford. He said someone should put a bullet in her. He hates all minorities. Desiree was a favorite victim because she was both black and a lesbian.
The FBI tracked down Halford. He was at the home of another park ranger. Halford’s intended victim hadn’t been home at the time and Halford was claiming there were kids there. And so the FBI breached the building to take down their suspect.
They easily arrested Halford. He didn’t even try to hide his crimes. The feds came to believe he had killed someone else connected to the National Park Service. He was also ranting about the “kids”.
Halford believed the National Park Service was trafficking children. He thought that because he was listening to a conspiracy theorist. The theorist was known as “Calvin”. He was anonymous. He was also far more dangerous than Qanon. Anyways, this Calvin would post cryptic messages online. He left it up to his followers to decode it.
There was a guy known as Duke Ducoyle who decoded Calvin’s latest message. He claimed that the National Park Service was secretly the National Pride Service. He claims the feds were hiring gay people to traffic children all around the country. Halford saw his message and he tried to act on it. Only he wasn’t their killer.
Brandon’s gun wasn’t a match for the two park rangers that were killed. He also refused to say a negative word against Duke. He still believes that Duke was right and that eventually they would save the children that were endangered.
The FBI tried talking to Duke. They tried to warn him that he was stirring up hate against good people. He didn’t care about that and he said there’s no proof the dead rangers weren’t human traffickers. Meaning they couldn’t prove it was defamatory. Duke has a lot of lawyers.
He knew what to say to stay relevant and on the right side of the law. He got sued the last time he crossed the line. He’s been playing carefully ever since. He also knows that they couldn’t prove he was Calvin. They assumed it was him. And assumptions weren’t evidence.
Calvin later dropped the latest clue. He was inciting people to riot. They were supposed to tear down the National Park Service and so the feds were called in to restore order. They made several arrests.
One of them was Phil Ambrie. He was Drew’s father. He’s also been staying with her for the past few days. Phil was the one that gave Desiree’s address when her photo was posted online. She was showing around one of the children’s groups. Duke was claiming she was trafficking those children and so Phil posted where she could be found.
The feds continued to look into him. They later found he posted a message to Duke saying “mission accomplished”. Duke was detained because of that message. The feds kept investigating Phil.
He was sticking to the conspiracy theorist line. He told the feds that he doesn’t recognize their authority. He refused to believe one of the park rangers was also an Army Ranger. He said that Calvin would never target a member of the military. Even when evidence was placed right in front of him, he still believed in Calvin as well as Duke.
His daughter explained it. She said her mom died. Her dad lost his job. He then lost his house. He fell apart after all of that and she didn’t. She found a community to help her heal.
He found one that took his mind off of the pain but was more destructive than good. The bar where the riot kicked off wasn’t just some old bar. It’s where Drew worked at first. It’s where she met Desiree. There was no basement. There weren’t kids being held there. Drew showed that to her father and he still refused to believe at first.
Phil came to see the truth. His daughter showed him the truth. Phil admitted he was in communication with Duke. They planned the attack together. Phil also has a friend he met online.
The plan was for the friend to attack the same bar. The attack was planned for that day and the father barely had time to warn them before they were ducking bullets. OA later killed their active shooter. And Duke was arrested for inciting murder with an add on of hate crime because he made sure to attack gay people.
Duke threatened Isobel when he got arrested. It put her on edge. She made sure to walk home with her gun that night.
THE END!
