In tonight’s Fire Country episode, it wasn’t just one night with Bode and Gabriela. They kept sleeping with each other. It gave Bode hope.
Bode wanted to define the relationship. He wanted to be Gabriela’s boyfriend and Gabriela told him she wasn’t ready for that. She was still paying off the wedding that never happened.
She didn’t want to leave Diego’s family with the bill. She was currently living in an airstream she doesn’t own. She wasn’t really talking about her problems with her friends or her father. Gabriela knew she wasn’t ready for anything serious right now. She wanted to get her life right first.
Gabriela was hiding out. Something her father knew she did when she was scared. Manny asked Eve to check on Gabriela and Eve said she would. She went to the reopening of Smokey’s.
It was a bit dead at the bar. The Leones put up a bunch of fliers. Diego’s friends tore most of the fliers down. They wanted to hurt Bode for being the homewrecker. They blamed Bode for Diego leaving town and so Gabriela told them that their problem was with her. Not with Bode. Bode of course was still ready to fight the guys when he received help from a stranger.
This stranger took on three drunken idiots with no problem. Bode was grateful for his help. He offered to buy the man a drink and the guy said he couldn’t because he was Camden Casey.
He was Bode’s training captain for Phase Three. The new guy was a bit crazy. He took out three strangers so that was a significant sign. The second sign was that he was wearing a Dodger’s shirt in town. It was quite brave because Edgewater does not support that team in the slightest. Casey seemed like a guy that marched to his own band.
The last part was significant because he had to respond to an airplane crash. There wasn’t an airfield or airport in town. The airplane was heading towards LAX when it had to make a crash landing in an open field.
Eve called for Three Rock. Vincent roped in the cadets. Casey was big into letting them do the dangerous stuff. Jake tried to talk him out of it and Casey said that’s not his teaching style. He didn’t care about the risks. He cared about making Bode into the best firefighter he could be.
Casey also felt there were a lot of distractions around Bode. If it wasn’t Bode’s family, it was his friends or Gabriela. The others all knew about Gabriela and Bode still sleeping together. Eve won that bet she made with Jake because of it. It was all made in good fun. Bode was loved. There was nothing wrong with that.
It just shouldn’t interfere with work. Bode took major risks and he saved a lot of lives. He also went viral thanks to Casey entrusting him with bigger tasks. Jake and Bode’s parents didn’t like that Bode had been in danger. They wanted to argue with Casey.
Only Casey wasn’t a bad guy. He also wasn’t a sociopath no matter what Sharon believes. Casey had once been in Bode’s position. He followed commands in spite of his gut telling him differently.
He lost nine friends that day by following orders. He now was a firm believer in trusting the gut. Bode told him he could do a job and so Casey supported him. Casey credited Bode for the fine work he did at the crash site. Bode was left feeling great about himself when Gabriela tried to sabotage him. She tried to lure him to her airstream for sex.
They didn’t have time for it. Bode was still on shift. The local motel didn’t have room for the hundred-seventy-two passengers. The town had to fit people wherever they could. Gabriela also got sent home early because she snapped at one of the passengers. The man kept asking her to find his luggage for him.
Gabriela tried to tell him that wasn’t a concern for anyone because they were still treating injuries. He didn’t take that well and he kept pushing until Gabriela yelled at him. Vince had to send her home after that. Especially when the passenger had been right to worry about his luggage.
Larry was carrying vintage films. He was a collector. He buys up rare film and it was flammable. It would still be on fire even if entirely submerged in water and so Gabriela ignoring him was a mark against her. She also didn’t get Bode to break the rules for her. They were still at firehouse when the luggage caught fire.
They had to move the fire outside until it die down on its own. Gabriela tried going back to the airstream afterwards and she found a weird man staying there. He was one of the passengers. He was also the guy that started the fire with the vintage film. He kept trying to smoke at the firehouse.
Gabriela yelled when she saw a stranger in her home. Eve and Jake came to the rescue. They threw out the guy and they found out that Gabriela was living in the airstream. Her father had been right outside.
He heard everything. Bode tried to comfort Gabriela and she pushed him away. Manny realized then that Gabriela was self-sabotaging her life. She was using Bode as a crutch so that she didn’t have to deal with anything else. Manny talked to Gabriela. She needed her father right now. And it sucks that he’s back to being a prisoner.
Eve however tried reconnecting with her family. She hadn’t spoken to them in years. She was blamed for not the family falling apart. They pushed her away in the aftermath and she was now trying to get them back. She had a few rough conversations with her brother, but Elijah missed her. He also told her she was about to become an aunt.
Families are complicated. Bode’s parents were freaking out because he was moving out. He wanted his own place for him and possibly Gabriela. Gabriela was still running from her problems. Bode talked to Manny about it. He thought maybe she needed space.
Bode was going try and give her that only he was going ahead with moving out. His mom wasn’t sick. She was dealing with stress and so there’s nothing preventing Bode from being the best firefighter he could be. And he used his online fame to get people to his dad’s bar.
THE END!
