General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) is on the way to an early grave, so many viewers are reflecting on missed opportunities. Sam’s pairing with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) may not have been her most popular one, but they still had a loving, supportive relationship that’s worth celebrating.
Dante and Sam were good for each other, so they deserved to have more romantic milestones play out on-screen. Many Sam and Dante shippers were hoping to see an engagement happen at some point, so there have been social media complaints.
It would’ve been nice to watch Dante and Sam plan their nuptials following a proposal. Of course, not every soap pairing has to get married, but it would’ve sweetly sealed the deal on Sam and Dante blending their families.
Dante and Sam are very much in love, so there’s no reason they shouldn’t have had a wedding like so many soap couples that came before them. It’s just another way that many GH fans feel cheated when it comes to Sam’s departure from the ABC soap.
Since we know Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) is set to wake up from her coma soon, that makes Sam’s premature exit even worse. The show’s missing out on the drama of Dante marrying or almost marrying Sam right as Lulu awakens.
If Dante had tied the knot with Sam, it would’ve strengthened their commitment and further complicated Lulu’s comeback. Lulu still loves Dante and was hoping to reunite with him before she fell into a coma.
If Sam had stuck around, we could’ve seen Dante torn between his former flame and his current love interest. It was the kind of soapy story that writes itself, so Sam’s exit is happening at a horrible time and cheats us all out of so much material.
