General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, July 5, reveals that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) caught up with Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) by the pool before Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) joined her conversation and voiced support for Drew’s campaign.
Once Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) arrived, she gave Drew updates on the 24-hour publication delay and the inclusion of Deception’s new ad message. Drew praised Nina’s tough call and compassion for Blaze aka Allison “Allie” Rogers (Jacqueline Grace Lopez).
That led to Curtis highlighting Nina’s PR skills, so he thought she’d be useful when it came to Drew’s run for Congress. Drew’s phone started blowing up nearby, so Jordan brought it over to him and wondered what all the fuss was about.
Once Drew looked at the messages, he revealed that his name change went through – and that meant he was officially Drew Quartermaine.
Meanwhile, Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) caught Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) off guard when he showed up at the new apartment. Trina dropped an art book that Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) had given her, so she explained how art was something they had in common.
After Trina reflected on the weight of Spencer’s absence in her life, Gio opened up about his wonderful violinist mom and how tough it was to lose her.
Gio also caught Trina singing to herself later, so he praised her voice and traded confessions with her about what musical artists they liked.
As for Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), he came to Josslyn Jacks’ (Eden McCoy) rescue when she fell trying to change a smoke alarm battery. Josslyn ended up in Dex’s arms, so they ultimately shared a kiss.
After Josslyn pointed out that she didn’t want to rush things between them, Dex understood – though they still wound up making out again. Trina and Gio caught a glimpse of the pair kissing, so they were taken aback.
However, they all moved past the awkward moment and enjoyed a toast later since Trina and Josslyn were officially moving in.
At Deception, Blaze resigned since she knew she’d become a liability, but Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) suggested a pause until autumn instead since they wanted to support her.
Soon after, Brook Lynn received word that Blaze’s label had dropped her, so she broke the news to Blaze. Since Blaze was devastated and thought she was nothing without her music, she saw no need to be the Face of Deception anymore.
Maxie and Brook Lynn tried to convince Blaze she could come back from all this, but Blaze still exited in despair.
Once they were alone, Maxie refused to give up on Blaze’s role at Deception – and Brook Lynn refused to let Blaze lose her singing career, too.
In Natalia Ramirez’s (Eva LaRue) suite, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) ripped into Blaze’s mom over her homophobic rant. According to angry Kristina, Natalia didn’t get to pick and choose which parts of her daughter she’d love.
Natalia acted like maybe Kristina would understand once that baby she was carrying was all grown up. Although Natalia took jabs over the surrogacy, Kristina insisted the gift she was giving Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) was something she was very serious about.
Natalia wound up defending her bigoted comments by suggesting she was raised to believe those things. Kristina fired back how Natalia was choosing to be a bigot now and pointed out that Natalia was the reason Blaze was hurting.
After Natalia finally decided she was done listening to all this, she shut Kristina down. Natalia acted like she’d only let Kristina go on this long out of respect for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Kristina was appalled over Natalia disrespecting her daughter and vowed to make sure Blaze never needed her mom for anything ever again.
Once Kristina found Blaze looking even more upset at home, Blaze confessed that her label dropped her and cried in Kristina’s arms.
Next on Friday’s GH episode, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) showed up to check on Sonny and warned him not to go after Ava Jerome (Maura West) since it could mean losing Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola).
Sonny was cold to Dante and stood his ground on taking down Ava, who was the last of the Jeromes. Since everyone seemed to think Sonny was the bad guy, he said he’d start acting like what everyone thought he was.
Dante warned Sonny to pull it together instead since he felt that’s what everyone needed.
General Hospital spoilers say Sonny and Ava’s conflict will lead to some surprises on both sides, so stay tuned for more predictions on the consequences. CDL’s where you want to be for scorching General Hospital spoilers, predictions, updates and news, so make us your go-to GH source.
