General Hospital Recap: Wednesday, January 3 – Nikolas Proposes Esme Payback – Nina Refuses End of Sonny Romance

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 3, reveals that Tracy Quartermaine’s (Jane Elliot) phone was blowing up with notifications at the Quartermaine mansion, so Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) swiped it and realized Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) was flirting with her.

Once Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) returned, he looked at the texts and agreed Scott was definitely trying to flirt.

Tracy acted like Scott was beneath her standards, but Brook Lynn and Chase gave her a nudge to have some fun.

At Café Cherie, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) stepped away from her double date with Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight), Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) and Laura Collins (Genie Francis) to collude with Scott.

That led to Lucy worrying about Scott moving too fast with Tracy.

The ultimate goal was for Scott to trick Tracy into a Vegas marriage, but he doubted she’d fall for that again since it happened before with Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary).

Laura snapped a picture with Kevin and Martin, which had Lucy and Scott with their heads together in the background.

After Brook Lynn signed Tracy up for Instagram, Tracy caught Scott conspiring with Lucy in that pic and smiled over her “gotcha” moment.

In the backroom of the gallery, Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) caught Ava Jerome (Maura West) by surprise and put a hand over her mouth.

However, Nikolas eventually invited Ava to scream for the guard Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) provided since no one would hear her. Ava had already admitted to Nikolas that this room was soundproof.

As Nikolas and Ava rehashed the drama of the past, Ava asked if he was to blame for Austin Gatlin-Holt’s (Roger Howarth) demise and all the creepy hints she’d been getting.

Nikolas denied it and seemed genuinely confused, so Ava believed him. Now that Austin was gone and Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) was in prison, Nikolas wanted to reach out since Ava wasn’t being watched.

Although Nikolas took a jab at Ava for bashing him in the head, he was sorry about his threat to take Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) away.

Nikolas told Ava he never would’ve gone through with it and felt they were both manipulated.

That led to some talk about what Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) and Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) did, but Ava thought their romance was always destined for heartbreak. Ava softened toward Nikolas a bit, but she felt their toxic love never stood a chance.

Now that Ryan had gotten what he deserved, Nikolas pitched Ava on the idea of teaming up to make sure Esme got hers, too.

At The Savoy, Nina Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) wanted a chance to explain, but Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) fumed over her being the SEC informant and warned Nina not to come near her.

Sonny wondered if Nina hated the mother of his children so much that she wanted to send Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) to prison out of spite.

Nina argued that it wasn’t out of pure spite and reminded Sonny of how angry she was when Carly withheld the news about Willow being her daughter.

Willow was sick at the time, so Carly’s secret affected things and led to the delay in Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) getting tested.

Willow snapped since she didn’t want Nina making this about her and stormed out over Michael keeping this secret for months.

On the pier, Michael tried to act like he was protecting Willow, but she fired back that she wasn’t some porcelain doll.

Willow felt that Michael should’ve told her the truth right away, so he mentioned the fact that she kept her cancer diagnosis a secret.

That was a low blow, so Willow couldn’t believe Michael was throwing that in her face.

Michael claimed he saw Willow bonding with Nina and didn’t want to wreck that. Willow countered that she wasn’t all snuggled up to Nina in some wonderful mother-daughter relationship.

As Willow reflected on the times when Nina bailed on plans, she realized Michael had been manipulating things and confronted him about the other reason he kept quiet.

Back at The Savoy, Nina told Sonny that she was planning on telling him the truth tonight, but he didn’t believe her.

Nina also said she regretted her actions as soon as she turned in Carly and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), but Sonny ranted about Drew getting separated from Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante) and getting beaten in prison.

Although Nina kept saying she was sorry, Sonny argued that she should apologize to Carly and Drew.

Nina didn’t think she should go charging over there in the middle of the night, but Sonny didn’t see why not.

That led to Nina realizing Sonny wanted Carly to tear into her since he was having a hard time doing it himself.

Nina knew Sonny still loved her and refused to let this be the end for them, but Sonny stomped off and wound up doing some soul-searching in church.

At home, Carly cried over Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) passing away in her sleep and looked at a framed photo of them together.

Drew called Lucas Jones (Ryan Carnes) for Carly and vowed to use his connections to get Bobbie’s body back with minimal red tape.

Carly reflected on her final phone call with Bobbie and admitted she would’ve stayed on the line forever if she’d known it’d be the last time.

Carly had regrets over blowing up Bobbie’s life in the past, but Drew insisted she more than made up for that and felt Bobbie went peacefully. Bobbie knew she was loved, so Drew hoped Carly could take comfort in that.

Once Carly heard a knock at the door on Wednesday’s GH episode, she opened it to find Nina standing there and glared.

Meanwhile, Laura got a call from Lucas, so she gave Scott, Kevin and Lucy updates on Bobbie’s passing. That led to some reminiscing about Bobbie as they talked about their unique relationships with her.

General Hospital spoilers say Bobbie’s memorial service is coming up in the not-too-distant future, so stay tuned.
