General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that fans continue to buzz about the Friday, August 30 episode on social media. Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) shot John “Jagger” Cates, point blank during a face-off, two times, near the Quartermaine mansion boathouse, and viewers continue to question, “What happens next?”
After all, there was no need for Sonny to kill John the way he did. Don’t mob bosses have henchmen that can do their dirty work? By shooting John, Sonny risks going to jail, especially since he did it so close to so many eyewitnesses. Some of his children and grandchildren were within walking distance. Why would Sonny be so sloppy?
Fans know that Sonny is far smarter and more meticulous when it comes to revenge plans. After all, if he wanted to shoot John, he could have encouraged the FBI agent to meet him at the Corinthos Coffee warehouse or the docks, without so many people close by. It’s not out of character for Sonny to kill someone; however, it is out of character for Sonny to kill someone without covering his tracks. Especially since the mob boss has a clear head and is back on his bipolar meds.
In the land of daytime drama, nothing is ever cut and dry. Fans “saw” Sonny shoot John, but was Sonny, “Sonny”? Could this be an intricate plan devised by John? Perhaps, John will survive the shooting and have the very evidence he needs to finally nail Sonny. Then again, if John did die, maybe he was a pawn in an unknown enemy’s game looking to bring the mob boss down.
What if the “Sonny” fans saw with the gun was someone wearing a Sonny face mask? While it’s been a hot minute, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) once paraded around as Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan), back in the day. This is the land of soaps, where anything is possible.
