General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, January 29, reveals that Laura Collins (Genie Francis) was relieved when Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) woke up and correctly answered Portia Robinson’s (Brook Kerr) questions to determine his cognitive skills.
Kevin admitted Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) knocked him out, but he wasn’t convinced when he heard about the police following up on the lead in Toronto.
However, Kevin remembered Esme using The Invader’s credit card instead of her own on the laptop, so Laura decided to call Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).
After Alexis checked in with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) at the courthouse and got updates on the fraud developments, she was summoned to the hospital.
Alexis confirmed that Esme often used The Invader’s card and eventually did some digging to determine that Esme booked a flight to Paris.
In Toronto, a local policeman confronted Maggie Fitzgerald (Heather Olt) with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), but Esme wasn’t in the apartment.
Maggie insisted that she wrote Esme with her address, but she never extended an invitation to come there and jeopardize her new place of employment.
Dante realized they’d been duped and got the news about the Paris trip once he spoke to Laura over the phone.
Meanwhile, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) shared a romantic dinner and discussed all their Paris plans.
Once Spencer took Trina off for a surprise, Esme popped up outside the restaurant and followed them.
Back at GH, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) was eager to try standing in his physical therapy session, but Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) suddenly appeared and didn’t think that was a good idea.
After Curtis insisted, he attempted to stand using the stability of the bars, but he ultimately had to plop down in his chair.
Curtis was discouraged, but Stella gave him a pep talk and reminded him of other challenges he’d conquered in the past.
Just because it didn’t happen on the first try didn’t mean it wasn’t going to happen, so Curtis took that advice to heart and filled Portia in on everything later. Curtis was determined to walk by the time Trina came back from Paris.
At the courthouse again, Finn was concerned about Mrs. Muldoon (Annie Tedesco) potentially going to prison if they blew up the malpractice fraud situation. That would leave the Muldoons’ children without a parent.
Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) was more worried about Finn’s own legal consequences and felt that Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) had to raise the possibility of the fraud in court.
Martin dropped the name “Dr. Powell” to Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) as a new witness since that was seemingly the oncologist that Dennis Muldoon went to. Diane clearly didn’t have any idea who that was.
Back with Mrs. Muldoon, she confronted Finn about not finding the cancer.
Finn reminded Mrs. Muldoon that he told her husband to get follow-up tests, but Mrs. Muldoon acted like he never would’ve gambled with his health.
Mrs. Muldoon insisted that family was everything to her husband, who was the one who suggested that she sue for malpractice and take care of the family when he was gone.
Finn decided Mrs. Muldoon seemed totally in the dark on Mr. Muldoon’s plans, so he relayed that info to Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison), Tracy and Martin.
Since court was about to resume, Martin wondered if Finn wanted to move forward with their new strategy, so Finn had to decide whether he’d risk throwing suspicion on Mrs. Muldoon and potentially sending her to jail.
As for Tracy, she cornered Mrs. Muldoon in the hallway. Although Mrs. Muldoon wasn’t keen on having a discussion, Tracy acted like she could do all the talking instead.
