General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there’s a writing team transition happening, so changes are being made behind the scenes. That means there are going to be more cast shakeups, so let’s discuss an adjustment in one GH star’s status.
According to the show’s credits, Robert Gossett is now off contract as Marshall Ashford.
This news comes on the heels of another suspicious incident since the official GH account on X didn’t wish Gossett a happy birthday on March 3 like they did the year before.
Of course, that could just be an oversight, but it already had fans buzzing about whether Marshall Ashford might be on his way out.
Then, Marshall’s storyline started to seem rather suspicious as well.
The show’s finally addressing Marshall’s misdiagnosis and bringing back a story that they dropped for a year.
Now it almost feels like Marshall’s swan song and a way to give the character some closure.
Naturally, it’s possible Marshall will stick around in a recurring capacity like a lot of other characters on the show.
It’d be weird for Marshall to completely disappear from Curtis Ashford’s (Donnell Turner) life since they’ve made such a big deal about finally reconnecting.
That said, it’d be easy for Marshall to join Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) in traveling at some point since she tends to like vacations and the show’s teased a romance between them.
Regardless, this misdiagnosis issue feels like one last attempt to give Marshall some drama and wrap up an arc that needed a conclusion.
This could be happening ahead of an exit or in anticipation of reduced screentime due to Gossett’s recurring status.
Robert Gossett won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor at the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards back in December 2023, so he’s helped earn some acclaim for the show.
Marshall Ashford has also earned the affectionate nickname of “Hat Daddy” on social media, so many viewers will be eager to see what happens with Robert Gossett’s character moving forward.
General Hospital spoilers say Marshall will get updates on some other misdiagnosis details on the March 18 episode, so stick with us for more predictions on how that news will affect him.
